So, essentially my GM moved a healthy scratch and a 4th or 5th minor league D man for 2.2m in cap space next year. And got two serviceable players for the stretch.

Yep. Normally the Pens are big players at the deadline, but it just seemed like the parts weren't moving. I'd say Caps with Shattenkirk was obviously the biggest move, everything else was just complimentary.

Don't know about the Habs. They needed to get some better players, what did they do, pick up a bunch of over-the-hill 4th line guys? Not impressed.

I wonder what the ask was for Duchene in the end? I'm surprised; I guess Sakic thinks he can get more after the expansion draft, when teams might have some extra flexibility. I would've thought the desperation of playoff-bound teams would have outweighed that.

Always feels good when your team is sitting well outside a playoff spot and has lost their last 4 coming into the trade deadline, including regulation losses to the two worst teams in the league and blowing 2 goal 3rd period leads in consecutive games, only to have your GM do absolutely nothing.

Wait, scratch that, we acquired a D-man who will be second pairing in the AHL for a guy with 0 points in 11 career NHL games.
