Wondering how good Houston really is now that OU has two pretty bad losses. I watched the Cincy game and they didn't look all that sharp until the 4th.

Im not so sure about that the right coach makes a big difference. Carol had success. They have the talent and always recruit well. The sanctions are finally over. They have an AD with a winning history and a ton of credentials in Swann.A coach is the piece they lack. With USC's talent and recruiting.Combined with the output Herman gets out of his players. Its a perfect fit imo.

Ya, but $C is like Miami, super successful when the coach allows really shady people around the program.

If LSU and Oklahoma both fire their long time head coaches they are completely screwed if they don't get Herman.

not sure who else they could possibly get that would even compare

Petrino and Fuente would be possible consolation prizes?

I can't see Fuente ditching Virginia Tech after a year, and I'm not sure if they'll take the risk on Petrino.

It's gotten tougher for these top programs because coaches are more willing to stick around with power 5 programs that aren't traditionally at the top.

Boren wouldn't. He's too worried about maintaining a squeaky clean image.

Perhaps your next best option is PJ Fleck from Western Michigan, he's done a nice job building that program

Not sure if it would appease the fanbase at first but he is a really good coach

I think fleck is a step away from being hired by a blue blood. I think he'll get a lower tier p5 job first and have to prove it there before a contender looks at him.

The pool of rising coaches really isn't that big, which is why he comes up. But who knows, it's still a long season and the pool of coaches could change

I'm not saying he wouldn't be a great coach, but ADs at schools expected to contend every year are often reticent to take big chances on coaches that haven't had p5 experience is all.

I don't care how good he is. If they dumped Stoops for the HC at western Michigan, their fan base would justifiably riot.

You obviously don't know our spineless administration.
Is it me, or is LSU and OU also in a similar "shit or get off the pot" predicament in terms of HC? Stoops has won a ton, just doesn't seem like OU will win another title at OU.

Very similar. OU won't win #8 with Stoops at the helm, but our administration doesn't give a shit.

I think as long as he is winning conference titles they will continue to not care. They can still say, well we are winning the conference and that counts for something. Luckily LSU doesn't have that problem. Or ya know they win the conference then get blanked in the title.

I'm mad as fuck but I know nothing is changing. Problem is, Boren and Joe C. are too stupid to be embarrassed. They can continue to encourage mediocrity if they want, but they won't be funding it with my money. The rest of the fan base needs to take the same attitude.

I feel your pain man. :hug:Been a season ticket holder since LSU sucked and how are we thanked? Garbage home games and a nice :finger2: want to see a good non-conference game, buy a flight to Houston/Atlanta.

Lies, 4d20 has told us many times that the season ticket holders don't care about watching quality non-con games and prefer to watch games against Eastern Michigan and LATech.

IMO, if LSU wants him come January, he will be their next head coach.
