Shawn Slocum Fired: Packers Release Special Teams Coordinator - Acme Packing Company



The reason for the Seattle loss had been removed....rest easy packer fan. Your dominance will continue

Don't necessarily like the fact that they threw Slocum under the bus. An argument could be made that the ST was the reason they were in contention up to the end. 5 FGs, recovered fumble and respectable return yards. I guess the fans needed a sacrificial lamb.

But if you ask me, getting only 6 points off of 5 turnovers was the reason they lost and Slocum had nothing to do with that

What I don't like is when people assume the firing was related to the Seahawks game. Our special teams stunk all year. We had what, 7 blocked kick this year? That's about a 5-year total for a lot of teams, I would say. Our kickoff return game was lousy too this season, and quite frankly, special teams haven't really been a strong point for some time. Let's not act like everything was sunshine and cotton candy before the 2nd half of the Seattle game...

5 blocked field goals or extra points and two blocked punts in 2014. Our kick return average in 2014 was 31st in the league at less than 20 yards per. Punt returns weren't bad but the ave benefited from two taken to the house. Putrid stats and this move had to be made.

2 decent years, 4 bad years. Got that ugly curve going with the rankings too. This was not a sacrificial lamb deal. I don't like when coaches get fired and I don't call for coaches heads. But it would take a lot to convince me that this wasn't a move that should have been made.
