Like the Rock used to say........ it doesn't matter.

OSU and UofM have to play so #1 or #2 is pointless winner takes all in the East.

Indiana is quietly a tough team, still not sure how I feel about Nebraska

My B1G Power Rankings - after week 7

1. Ohio State (6-0, 3-0) - Last Week: 2 - The Buckeyes' defense stepped up in the 2nd half to rally back against the Badgers. Their win over Wisconsin helps them move to top spot during Michigan's bye week.
2. Michigan (6-0, 3-0) - Last Week: 1 - Michigan is leading the B1G in PF in all their games and B1G games. Leading the B1G in PA in all their games and B1G games. They are the only B1G team to reach 300 points (5th nationally) at this point. #1 and #2 on this ranking is still very close.
3. Nebraska (6-0, 3-0) - Last Week: 3 - The Huskers remain undefeated after nearly giving up a 17-point lead. Last season, the bounces didn't go their way. This season, they are. They host Purdue before being on the road against Wisconsin and Ohio State.
4. Wisconsin (4-2, 1-2) - Last Week: 4 - The Badgers have lost two straight games and are 1-2 in conference. But they lost by 1 score to Ohio State and Michigan. Clement did great against Ohio State, at least in the 1st half. Even with 2 losses, they are closer to undefeated Nebraska than they are to Penn State with the same record.
5. Penn State (4-2, 2-1) - Last Week: 5 - PSU might not have a great defense like Wisconsin, but they are winning. They did not move on their bye week even with Wisconsin losing.
6. Northwestern (3-3, 2-1) - Last Week: 8 - A few weeks ago, Northwestern was looking like the worst team in the conference. Their last two matchups were victories against Iowa and Michigan State, who both are underachieving. Justin Jackson is the B1G's leading rusher.
7. Iowa (5-2, 3-1) - Last Week: 9 - Iowa leads the B1G West in PF in both overall and B1G action, but they haven't faced a top 5 team in this ranking. Iowa has two running backs with 575+ rushing yards. Their pass blocking still struggles. We will see if their rush defense has improved as the Badgers come to town.
8. Minnesota (4-2, 1-2) - Last Week: 10 - The Gophers had a dominating victory against the Terps on the road. This victory followed losses to Iowa and Penn State. Minnesota ranks in the middle of the pack in nearly every stat.
9. Maryland (4-2, 1-2) - Last Week: 6 - The Terps have dropped two straight by a combined score 69-24 against Penn State and Minnesota. They are 3rd in B1G in rushing and 13th in passing.
10. Indiana (3-3, 1-2) - Last Week: 7 - Lagow is 2nd leading passer in the conference. Indiana has proven to be a dangerous team as they kept a close game with Ohio State for nearly 3 quarters and almost upset Nebraska. However, they still lost 3 of their last 4 games.
11. Michigan State (2-4, 0-3) - Last Week: 11 - The Spartans have lost 4 straight by a combined score 139-81 They are 13th in B1G in offensive PPG and 12th in defensive PPG. They are 3rd in B1G in passing yards.
12. Purdue (3-4, 1-3) - Last Week: 12 - Purdue may have scored 35 against Iowa, but 2 were against Iowa's 2nd string and one was with 17 seconds left of the game. They also scored one when Iowa was up 35-7 and Iowa stopped blitzing. Blough is the leading passer in the B1G.
13. Illinois (2-4, 1-2) - Last Week: 14 - Illinios defeated Rutgers, but lost their last four by a combined score of 147-80. Their big win against Murray St and Rutgers makes their PF/PA pretty even.
14. Rutgers (2-5, 0-4) - Last Week: 13 - Rutgers is 14th in B1G in PF and PA in both overall and conference play. They have only scored 2 TDs against B1G opponents. Against P5 opponents, they have been outscored 222-27.

ESPN just came out with their mid-season All Conference team. Apparently Michigan and Ohio State are the only 2 teams in the conference. They have 16 players on the list combined.

Northwestern with 3
Penn State with 1
Nebraska with 1
Iowa with 1
Wisconsin with 2
Purdue with 1
Illinois with 1
Minnesota with 1

I don't have a problem with it. Kind of surprised to see 1 from Nebraska though.

I get that Ohio State and Michigan are the 2 best teams in the conference and will be well represented on the list. But not even a single Husker on the defensive side.

If they had also included a second team list, I bet it would be peppered with Huskers

Agreed. But it is a tough year on defense though, especially in LB and DB. Isn't there at least 3 returning AAs that are still playing amazing? Peppers, King, and Lewis.

Yeah -- it'd be tough on the defensive side of the ball to get many guys on the team outside of Michigan and OSU. As it stands right now -- UM is #1 in total defense, OSU is #6 in total defense in the NCAA. They are #1 (Michigan) and #3 (Ohio State) in scoring defense.

Haven't seen the article you talked about -- but i'd guess, Iowa has Desmond King on the team (All-American last year) and my other guess was going to be Malik McDowell of MSU, but you didn't list MSU, so I guess he didn't make it.

QB J.T. Barrett, Ohio State: No surprise here. Barrett is a leading Heisman Trophy candidate for his work leading the No. 2 Buckeyes. He has thrown for 16 touchdowns (against four interceptions) and has run for six more.

RB Justin Jackson, Northwestern:Jackson leads the Big Ten in rushing (698 yards) and carries (143) and has scored six touchdowns.

RB Saquon Barkley, Penn State: A big-play threat every time he touches the ball, Barkley is averaging 5 yards per carry and has scored nine total touchdowns.

WR Austin Carr, Northwestern: One of the true surprises of the season, the redshirt senior leads the Big Ten in catches (43), receiving yards (595) and receiving touchdowns (eight).

WR Amara Darboh, Michigan: Darboh is a big-play receiver who's averaging 16 yards per catch with five touchdown receptions. His 46-yard touchdown catch was the difference in the Wisconsin win.

TE Jake Butt, Michigan: The preseason All-American has lived up to expectations so far, with 23 catches for 270 yards and three scores.

OL Pat Elflein, Ohio State: The senior center has been an anchor and a leader for Ohio State, which has rushed for 300.5 yards per game, fourth-best in the FBS.

OL Nick Gates, Nebraska: The sophomore left tackle has been the Cornhuskers' best offensive lineman while protecting Tommy Armstrong's blind side.

OL Mason Cole, Michigan: Cole switched from left tackle to center this off season and hasn't missed a beat, leading an offensive line that has paved the way that leads the Big Ten in scoring at 50 points per game.

OL Ryan Ramczyk, Wisconsin: A transfer from Division III Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Ramczyk has emerged as the Badgers' top lineman.

OL Billy Price, Ohio State: The third-year starter has been another reason for the Buckeyes' offensive success.

All-purpose Curtis Samuel, Ohio State:Is Samuel a running back or a receiver? The answer is yes. The H-back leads the Big Ten in all-purpose yardage with 456 rushing yards and 403 receiving yards.

Defense

DL Ryan Glasgow, Michigan: Don't look for stats with Glasgow. He's a premier run-stuffer and leader for the No. 1 total defense in the FBS.

DL Tyquan Lewis, Ohio State: Lewis paces the Buckeyes with four sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss, leading the way up for the No. 3 scoring defense in the country.

DL Jake Replogle, Purdue: The Boilermakers have been awful defensively as a whole, but Replogle has been a bright spot by consistently generating pressure from his defensive tackle spot.

DL Carroll Phillips, Illinois: Phillips leads the Big Ten in tackles for loss (11) and is tied for third with four sacks.

LB Jabrill Peppers, Michigan: The Wolverines move Peppers all over the field defensively, and he has 10 tackles for loss while moving into the Heisman Trophy discussion.

LB T.J. Watt, Wisconsin: A breakout star on the Badgers' fierce defense, Watt has five sacks and eight tackles for loss.

LB Raekwon McMillan, Ohio State: The junior doesn't put up big stats since the Buckeyes don't ask him to make many plays in the backfield. But he almost never misses a tackle and has been a leader for a very young defense that has been dominant.

DB Malik Hooker, Ohio State: The first-year starter is a leading candidate for Big Ten defensive player of the year honors, thanks to his four interceptions and outstanding play at safety.

DB Desmond King, Iowa: King has only one interception this year -- a pick-6 last week vs. Purdue -- but he's playing as well or better than he did a year ago when he won the Jim Thorpe Award.

DB Jourdan Lewis, Michigan: Lewis missed the first three games of the season, which would normally be too much to be considered for a midseason all-conference team. But he's been nearly impossible to throw against since he returned, and his acrobatic interception sealed the win over Wisconsin.

DB Marshon Lattimore, Ohio State:Another breakout player for the Buckeyes' defense, Lattimore's three interceptions give him an edge for this spot in a crowded field of star defensive backs this season.

Specialist

K Emmit Carpenter, Minnesota: He's 10-for-11 on field goals this year, including a perfect 5-for-5 on attempts from 40 yards or longer.

P Cameron Johnston, Ohio State: The Australian continues to dazzle, averaging 50.8 yards per punt attempt, including a 68-yarder at Oklahoma.

PR Jabrill Peppers, Michigan: Another reason Peppers is in the Heisman mix: He's averaging 17.8 yards per return, second-best in the FBS, with a touchdown.

KR Solomon Vault, Northwestern: His 32.3 yards per return is sixth-best in the county, and he scored on a 95-yard return at Michigan State.

  • This is the first time Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines will take on Lovie Smith’s Fighting Illini, but this isn’t the first time the coaches have played one other. On Nov. 19, 2012, Harbaugh’s San Francisco 49ers bested Smith’s Chicago Bears 32-7 in a Week 11 NFL game. The 49ers’ defense dominated, limiting the Bears to 143 total yards.
  • The quarterback carousel continues in the Big Ten, as Rutgers coach Chris Ash named Gio Rescigno his starter for the game against Minnesota. The move follows QB switches at Illinois, Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
  • If Ohio State beats Penn State, the Buckeyes would become the third major-college program since 1900 to win 21 straight road games. The last team to accomplish that was Alabama, from 1970 to 1975. Oklahoma holds the record with 25 straight road wins from 1953 to 1958.

To be fair, at least the Goofer QB change was because of injury. It appears that Leidner is still out this week, as he isn't listed on the two-deep.

21 straight road wins is impressive. Iowa broke (maybe tied) school record with 9 straight at Purdue.
