1. Urban Meyer (Ohio State)
2. Mike Riley (Nebraska)
3. Jim Harbaugh (Michigan)
4. Mark Dantonio (Michigan State)
5. Paul Chryst (Wisconsin)

If Meyer is able to get these kids in the top 5 and doesn't win B10 COY then it is official that no Ohio State coach will ever win it

They should just rename the award "The B1G Coach of the Year Except Ohio State".

Last winner for OSU - Earle Bruce, 1979. That's right - 36 years.

Cooper never won it (hey, he did beat scUM twice), Tressel never won it (NC, several B1G championships, more BCS games than any other program), and so far Meyer has escaped it as well (2 division championships, B1G championship, first ever CFP Championship, won +20 regular season conference games in a row, 4-0 in playoff/bowl games).

Really, the award is for coaches whose teams suck less than everyone expected.

The best is in 2002 when Tressel won NATIONAL coach of the year but not B10

michigan -11......on wisconsin :dhd:

I think that is about right. It'll all depend on the weather, IMO. If it is raining like they are predicting right now and it is difficult to throw, I'd take the points. If it isn't raining or it is just a sprinkle and doesn't effect the game -- I'd take UM to cover.

I'm not taking anything away from Wisconsin, but I feel their offense plays directly into UM's strengths on defense.

If Wiscy keeps winning, or even wins the West, I don't know how you can't vote for Paul Chryst with that schedule they have had.

This is shameful. You could have given me 20 guesses and I never would have reached 1979. I guess when you are expected to be good and you are, they don't care.

probably not....i can see a lot of the whisky dreamers jumping on that line

If I were a gambling man, I'd take the points. I think Wisconsin keeps that game within 10. They rarely lose by more than that

I agree that Wisconsin with their players, winning the division with that thorny road is much more impressive than Ohio state winning the east with a roster full of NFL talent.

that +345 ml.....is worth a shot

If the weather forecast stays like it is -- It'd be a good bet.

I think UM is going to have to throw the ball in this game. I don't think either team is going to be able to run the ball effectively.

I don't like talking down about another team, but Wisconsin's QB looks really slow getting rid of the ball and with Jourdan Lewis back -- he is going to have a tough time finding anywhere to throw it.

This game reminds me of the MSU/OSU game last year -- I said if you played in nice weather, OSU would win by at least 2 scores. If weather comes into play, it'll be a coin flip.

My B1G Power Rankings - after week 3

1. Michigan (4-0, 1-0) - Last Week: 2 - #1 is neck-and-neck between Michigan and Ohio State. Colorado's road win over Oregon helps and Michigan dominated PSU. Michigan gets the edge.
2. Ohio State (3-0, 0-0) - Last Week: 1 - The Buckeyes have dominated everyone they played, especially Sooners in Norman. The bye week gives Michigan the slight edge this week, but it is very close.
3. Wisconsin (4-0, 1-0) - Last Week: 5 - Wisconsin rises to 3rd after dominating the Spartans. They have not been consistent enough to be at the level of Ohio State or Michigan, but don't be surprised if they surprise one of them or both.
4. Nebraska (4-0, 1-0) - Last Week: 3 - Nebraska has played very well. They are neck-and-neck with Wisconsin. The big OOC opponents of both teams fell this week. Wisconsin's B1G opener was a better one. Nebraska is just 1 win away from tying their regular season record from last season.
5. Minnesota (3-0, 0-0) - Last Week: 6 - Minnesota is not near the level of Nebraska right now. They had lack-luster performances but they have played decent teams. I think MSU is better, but they got destroyed.
6. Michigan State (2-1, 0-1) - Last Week: 4 - The Terps might be undefeated, but look who they beat. They did look lack-luster in their win in week 1 (which is barely affecting this). Dominated Notre Dame (which is not looking good right now). and was dominated by the Badgers.
7. Maryland (3-0, 0-0) - Last Week: 7 - The Terps might have outscored their opponents 122-51, but it is against Howard, FIU, and UCF. Their bye week didn't help them.
8. Iowa (3-1, 1-0) - Last Week: 8 - For two weeks now, Iowa has failed to reach expectations. They dominated Miami (OH) and Iowa State, but lost to NDSU and squeaked by Rutgers. Their rush defense is almost nonexistent.
9. Penn State (2-2, 0-1) - Last Week: 10 - Penn State got dominated by Michigan. Their other loss was a close game with Pitt. They also won a close game against Temple.
10. Rutgers (2-2, 0-1) - Last Week: 11 - Knights and Hoosiers were tough to decide. Both beat nobodies. Rutgers lost to a very strong Washington team and an Iowa team that has lots of talent but playing poorly, but still decent. Indiana lost to Wake Forest and beat FIU and Ball State.
11. Indiana (2-1, 0-0) - Last Week: 9 - WF is the toughest team that Indiana has played and they lost by double digits.
12. Purdue (2-1, 0-0) - Last Week: 12 - Boilermakers dominated EKU. They were dominated by Cincy and beat Nevada by 10.
13. Northwestern (1-3, 0-1) - Last Week: 14 - NW beat Duke, who just beat Notre Dame. They lost by 1 point to a WMU team that is looking good and a strong FCS Illinois State by 2 points. They could be the Huskers of last season. But they did lose to them and have 3 losses.
14. Illinois (1-2, 0-0) - Last Week: 13 - Illinois dominated Murray State 52-3 in week 1. Since then, they lost to UNC and WMU by a combined score of 82-33.

TJ Watt won the National Defensive player of the Week award. So glad we were able to have the opportunity to have all the Watt's stay with UW.

My B1G Power Rankings - after week 3

1. Michigan (5-0, 2-0) - Last Week: 1 - Harbaugh & Co. remain in the top spot following their win against Top 10 Wisconsin at the Big House.
2. Ohio State (4-0, 1-0) - Last Week: 2 - The Buckeyes put a hurting on everybody they have played, including Purdue. Michigan had the big win, but it is a very close race to #1.
3. Nebraska (5-0, 2-0) - Last Week: 4 - The Huskers rise to #3 after beating Illinois and Wisconsin's loss. Riley has those boys playing tough in the 4th quarter. They have outscored their opponents 76-6 in the 4th quarter. the Huskers sit alone at the top of the West.
4. Wisconsin (4-1, 1-1) - Last Week: 3 - The Badgers defense showed it is the real deal by holding the Wolverines to just 14 points. JT Watt is a beast on that defense.
5. Maryland (4-0, 1-0) - Last Week: 7 - Maryland just keeps winning. They haven't played anybody, but they are still winning. RB Ty Johnson rushed over 200 yards against Purdue this week. They do have a tough slate of games coming up.
6. Penn State (3-2, 1-1) - Last Week: 9 - One way to rise in this poll is to win, and the Nittany Lions did that. They defeated Minnesota in OT after their season has not been looing that good. They have a shot to go up with a home game against undefeated Maryland.
7. Minnesota (3-1, 0-1) - Last Week: 5 - Minnesota drops a few spots after they lost their first game to Penn State in OT. Next week, they will try to win back a pig from struggling Iowa.
8. Indiana (3-1, 1-0) - Last Week: 11 - The Hoosiers took a big hit last week with their loss against WF, but they beat MSU this week as Redding rushed 100 yards against the Spartans. They have the Buckeyes next.
9. Michigan State (2-2, 0-2) - Last Week: 6 - Just two weeks ago, Sparty was at #4 after a win vs ND. They got pounded at home to Wisconsin and now lost to Indiana drops them down to #9.
10. Northwestern (2-3, 1-1) - Last Week: 13 - Last week, NW was next to last in the B1G on this ranking. After their win at Kinnick with the strong running game of Justin Jackson and great red zone catching by Austin Carr. The Wildcats rise to the top 10.
11. Iowa (3-2, 1-1) - Last Week: 8 - The Hawkeyes entered the season with many saying b1G West champions. Now, they are basically out of the division race after their poor performance their last 3 games. They cause too many penalties. Play calling on offense is horrible. And they can't seem to stop a simple dive play. CB Desmond King is the only one who is consistently good.
12. Rutgers (2-3, 0-2) - Last Week: 10 - Two of Rutgers losses have come against teams that are now Top 10 (possibly top 5 when the rankings come out). This week, they faced #2 Ohio State. But they are 0-2 in the B1G and were dominated by Ohio State.
13. Purdue (2-2, 0-1) - Last Week: 12 - Purdue beat EKY and Nevada, both who are not very good. They were beaten by Cincinnati and destroyed by Maryland. They face Illinois (who is last on here) and struggling Iowa (who has been dropping) the next few weeks. They have an opporntunity to rise on here.
14. Illinois (1-3, 0-1) - Last Week: 14 - Illinois has been outscored 113-62 in their last 4 games. UNC, WMU, and Nebraska are doing good this season, but they are just not winning and their win vs Murray is irrelevant now.
