Texas is probably going to be bad this year and Charlie Strong will be unfairly blamed

I'm not saying I think he has been perfect since he took the job, but there's a real chance if Texas doesn't get it together he will be on the hot seat after 1 year even though the lost year isn't really his fault. I mean, first of all it's one year. And second of all, injuries at key positions this year could turn up the pressure next season more than is perhaps warranted.

yeah i'm not saying that, but a terrible season which could be almost entirely NOT his fault will turn up the heat next season beyond what it should probably be.

but don't get me wrong... if you can't take the heat, then there are plenty of cooks who would probably be happy to work in the kitchen. for a lot less money too.

Charlie Strong cost Texas 4.4 million buyout from Louisville, and $5,000,000 in salary.

One problem is Red McCombs does not like Charlie Strong. Not good to have one of the two billionaire Texas donors not liking you.

The other one, Joe Jamail was Mack Brown's buddy and got Mack Brown his assistant job to Bill Powers. What Mack Brown does, I don't know. I know he does ESPN.

But if Jamail and McCombs threaten to take away their hundreds of millions they are giving Texas, one head will roll, Charlie Strong.

Not to mention attrition that comes EVERY year for every team all the while playing in the toughest week to week conference in America?

His evaluation period should REALLY begin to heat up in this off season when signing day comes imo. If Texas flops on the recruiting trail then Texas brass may have their hand forced. Texas (like any program) cant afford 2+ years of bad recruiting or it will be MANY years before they are back to being a conference/playoff or NC threat no matter who is coaching them.

He was brought in to remove the country club, inmates having fun and running things, society that MB left. MB had one foot in and one foot out, and did zero coaching, since the 2009 Championship game, and this is the mess he left.
