You'd have to be a moron to trade for a 29 year old Richard Sherman when the Seahawks clearly see his talent dropping off.

He also doesn't fit our defense. We don't run a lot of cover 3 defenses, we are primarily a man to man team under Schwartz.

When Sherman no longer gets the Legion of Boom benefit of the doubt for being overly physical, he will be finished. And if he's traded, he loses that halo.

Sherman will be an outright disaster for ANY team that acquires him save NE.

Just say no Howie.

This is a tricky situation.

On one hand, I don't want to give too much away. Sherman is a great talent, but has a short shelf life. We don't need to invest in a "missing piece" to make a SB run just yet, so we don't need to use resources that way. On the other hand, having a quality mentor to younger guys is a "HUGE" asset and he would be a huge boost to our defense.

My god, just that they preach in SEA to always look back for the ball or you won't play - would be huge alone. He could teach our coaches something about that!! (that so pisses me off about our defense right now. To be that clueless to such basics).

I would be for it. But I can't imagine we could put a package together to get it done.

I'd give a 4th rounder for Sherman. He can bridge us to our future corners, but he's expensive and falling off. Unless a corner is a real speed guy they usually don't last that long.

"IF" we trade down for an additional pick, don't be surprised if we zero in on Kevin King - late 1st round.

I think we have our guy at 14. I like this pick more and more everyday.
Eagles select CB Gareon Conley in Ray Didinger's 1st mock draft

1st- Conley
2nd- Mixon
the rest can fill in holes bpa.

I'm thinking Conley is the 3rd best player in the Ohio state defensive backfield. This is a reach imo. He isnt ranked 1st round in many mocks. Did nobody throw against Ohio state with this backfield?

Not to many teams were able to throw on Lattimore, Hooker, and Conley. Conley has the most starting experience. Conley has the better coverage skills for sure. His only struggle really is tackling and getting physical. He is an outstanding cover corner. His stock has risen since the combine. So yes, many scouts have him moving in the 1st round. I would take Conley at 14 without a blink of an eye. A few others on here would agree. Not a reach imo.

It does look like osu pass defense is top 3 with 7 int for td which is pretty impressive. Florida and Michigan rank higher except for those td's.

A lot of people would have called Clay Matthews the third best LB from USC in the 2009 draft after Rey Maualuga and Brian Cushing. He obviously became the best pro though. There is some projection involved here, and while I doubt Conley will be the best pro out of the Ohio State secondary, he could well be the second best after Lattimore IMO.

A big part of it is where you go and how you fit schematically. Brandon Graham for example was average at best as an OLB in a 30 front, but he was 2nd team All-Pro is Schwartz's 4-3. Clay Matthews had great physical traits to fit in GB's scheme, there's no way I think he'd be as good a player if he had to take on a tackle full time out of three or four point stance.

The thing I like about Conley is he is a savvy player. He is a natural cover guy with underrated physical tools because the other two guys he played with at OSU are physical exceptions. I think he's Bobby Taylor with more speed. The one thing I hope he gets better with in the pros is physicality; someone with his physical profile should be more stout going after a ball-carrier.

The problem with this pick is that Conley isn't the 14th best player in the draft. He would be a reach at #14 even though many have him going in the first round. The fact that he's not a great tackler or even a good one is a real turn off for me. I have a Lattimore well ahead of him.

There's a good chance John Ross or Cory Davis will still be available. I think both of them are far better football players. And so is Dalvin cook. If Ruben Foster falls, he would be another one.

Malik Hooker and Lattimore are both better prospects and I think that will be better pros too.

Are we ever going to have a solid cornerback who can tackle?
