Are they retarded in Bloomington?

The guy inherited a junior high team when he became coach. Sure it took what 3 years? But he took them to two straight sweet 16's. Now they want to can him after a 17-15 season which he lost 4/5 of his contributors from the year before?

Something doesn't add up.

Meh. He deserves to be fired. They have a rich tradition there and his recruiting has been suspect.

Everyone says Hopkins will replace Coach Boeheim...but gotta say, I wouldn't mind giving Crean a shot at SU.

And this rich history has been very poor since Bobby Knight left. Crean is who got them back on the map.

The B1G has been a dog fight the last 3 years. You have to think there will be down years. They lost a good freshman and also Zeller to the draft last year.

I would think very hard before I made this move.

His recruiting is definitely not the problem.

I think cooler heads will prevail and he'll get one more season, this season has just been incredibly frustrating.

I think anyone who follows Indiana basketball will understand the reason, if he was to be fired.

Last season was a Final Four team that fell short because of Crean's in game coaching. No in game adjustments, and the lack of player develop is what could cost him.

What Freshman did IU lose last year?

In general, I think it's a little early to cut bait with Crean, but I understand the reasoning behind doing it if they think they can get Woodson.

The flipside to that though is if they get Woodson, he has tough first season, then Brad Stevens becomes available. That would make for a mess in Bloomington.

I've brought up the Brad Stevens theory a couple times before.

I'd rather Indiana give Crean another season, I don't really see the point in firing him for Woodson.

Oh, yes it is.

See: Kentucky.

What are you talking about?

Because he doesn't recruit like Kentucky it's a problem?

Again, creans problem has nothing to do with recruiting. It has never been a problem for him.

What I think he is saying now that I thought about it, Kentucky has great recruits too but they don't play together as a team, no leadership, etc.

Right Kramer?

Exactly. I didn't think I had to spell it out in crayon.

People are overthinking this...he is in Year 6 at Indiana. They missed the tournament. If you are a true blue blood, that is unacceptable.

Indiana thinks they are a true blue blood, even though they only have one Elite Eight in the past 21 seasons. They fired Mike Davis after he made the tourney in year six, and he didn't carry the baggage of Crean. I think Crean deserves another year, but keeping him on is an admission that they aren't the powerhouse they thought they were ten years ago. I'm not sure that program is ready to admit they are an A-List program, and the only way to keep the denial going is canning Crean.

Actually, Crean's recruiting isn't the issue at all.

He's not keeping Indiana talent in Indiana though. Back to back Hoosierstate Mr. Basketball winners (Harris and Irvin) are up here. Plus McGary and GRIII. That has to bother a few boosters.

You said "recruiting is his problem"

You are wrong any way you try an twist it. Cream has always got good recruits. COACHING in game is his problem.

Now you've learned something today.

Do I need to paint by numbers for you?
