Only 6 teams have won true road games against currently ranked teams:

- UNC won @Mich St
- Zona won @SDSU
- SDSU won @Kansas
- Georgia won @Mizzou (conf game)
- Cinci won @Memphis (conf game)
- Northern Colorado won @Kansas St

This number will obviously go up as conference play continues (so many teams refuse to play true road games in their non-conference these days).

And here are the currently ranked teams that have no road wins at all...
- Baylor
- Kentucky
- Duke
- Iowa

Yeah I think Iowa has only played 2 true road games... They have had 4 neutral site games but the only 2 true road games were at Iowa State and at Wisconsin ( so I guess I dont feel too bad about not winning at either of those places. LOL). Road wins are tough to come by for sure.

Yeah, I think Coach K has set the trend of scheduling neutral site games against quality opponents to prepare his team for a tournament environment. It also has the benefit of helping out your RPI.

So you don't see as many true road games anymore. Most of them are OOC "rival" games like UK and UofL or MSU and UNC. You'll also see some as part of conference challenges, but even some of those were moving to neutral sites too.

Combine that with the fact that it's really hard to beat a ranked team in their own house, you just aren't going to see that many road wins against ranked teams at this point in the season.

its the going trend in CFB as well. if its more profitable to do a neutral site than H&H with an opponent a school is gonna do that as long as it doesn't totally alienate the fanbase.

Schools are getting a lot more creative with their ooc to attract TV viewers because the majority of the OOC comes in direct competition with CFB. games in germany & south korea, air craft carriers, champions classic which is nothing more than an early season final four. a simple OOC bb game does not cut it anymore for the TV execs.

then theres the total sellout aspect of it with NFL stadiums & casinos hosting matchups. the colorado-osu game looked to have about 5 fans total and the uk-baylor game was a complete joke. NCAA already started to ban this crap for the tourny, now i am hoping they extend it to the OOC.

I don't know about the Colorado game, but I know the Baylor game happened in the middle of an ice storm in Dallas (which as you may expect isn't equipped to handle a heavy frost, let alone a winter storm) and also tipped off an hour late do to a 4-OT game ahead of it.

But yeah... attendance was poor.

Personally I hate basketball games in football stadiums. I think it makes for a terrible fan experience, but the NCAA won't ever ban them entirely for the same reason the NCAA does anything... $$$$

if it was 70 and sunny at best that stadium was going to get maybe 10% to 15% capacity ==>which is the noise equivalent of cameroon getting 100 fans

as for the CU-osu game. it was in las vegas and had about 1 fan for every 75 seats

The neutral site games are weird IMO. Why have them in such big cities?? If you had Duke play Ohio State in Des Moines thatd be a fucking sellout in 3 minutes but instead they schedule these games in HUGE cities that have millions of other shit to do so they get no fans at all. I guess Im not as knowledgable on the neutral site process as some are but how does a turnout of 500 people for a game equate to more money?? TV rights are going to be the same either way Id think...

Champions Classic had great attendance. I was at the first one in MSG and it was packed. I had tickets to Atlanta but had the flu and missed it. I'm pretty sure this year at the United Center in Chicago it was a packed house too.

As far as I know when they have good match-ups in big cities they have great attendance.

Interesting theory, but the attendance for that game was 12,818 which is >15% already.

I think a lot of teams really try to limit the tough pre-season road match-ups... especially in state. You will likely never see OSU playing any tough in state opponents on their own court.

Yeah Iowa and Iowa State used to play home and homes with Drake and UNI but after 5 or 6 years of losing just as many of them as they won they decided to just play one of them on a neutral court every year. Like this year Iowa played Drake, ISU played UNI and they play both games on the same court, same day. Kind of a cool deal but it was always fun to play a home and home too.

i am wondering if thats more OSU trying to keep their stranglehold on the Ohio market. playing H&Hs with other programs makes them look like OSU's equal when OSU probably assumes every other school is inferior.

Okay then... 12% Your point that they would only have 10-15 under better conditions is still wrong.

11%........

but my point still stands. even if it was a sunny day & 70 the noise of that event would of been equivalent to 100 people at a duke home game

12,818 / 108,713 = 0.11790678207758041816526082437243

If you're rounding, that's 12% not 11% you pedantic asshole.

And seeing as how they've had 38,052 for college games there before, I don't think your claim that it would sound like 100 in Cameron is at all accurate.

That by the way, is 3,000 more people than the largest crowd ever at The HVAC Dome.

I bet you could hear a pin drop in there that day.

road wins are so difficult because refs seem to give the home teams most of the calls. it makes many games hard to watch.

most games are hard to watch, then? because in almost every game there is a road team...
