Favre's iron man streak will be tough to beat, even with the new rules.

Yup, too physical a game. Between regular wear and tear, and fluke injuries. It's close to impossible to last as long as he did without one legit injury. You also have to be good enough into your 40 to reach his number of consecutive games.

Ernie Nevers holds the NFL's oldest active record.

Scored 40 points in a single game in 1929

He scored 6 touchdowns and kicked 4 extra points.

*** Gale Sayers scored 6 touchdowns as a rooking (1965) but didn't kick any extra points. That is the closest a player has reached the record.

No 5-letter last name will ever be misspelled as much as Favre.

Although...Ngata is misspelled plenty of times by Ravens' fans.

I'm not sure if a thread like this has been on here but there are a few that I feel will never fall. My first would be Don Shula's regular season win record of 328. Others might fall but what are the ones that will stand ?

Belichick is closest and he would have to coach until around 74 and average 10 wins a season. Not likely.

A 100 yard INT for a TD in the SB given to us by James Harrison.

I think all INT's and TD's in the endzone are measured from the goal line, and if that's true it can never be broken.

Willie Parker's 75 TD run in the SB will stand for a long time. I can't say it will never be touched but look how long Marcus Allen's 74 yarder stood.

I agree that Brett Farve's record of consecutive games will never be broken. Yes, the QB's get more protection these days but by that same token, what qualifies as a concussion is tougher.

I also think Emmitt Smith's record of 18K yards and Jerry Rice's records wont be touched.

The shelf life for a RB these days is just a handful of years and Emmitt was behind a great Oline for a really long time. You don't see that these days.

Jerry Rice had Joe Montana throwing him the ball, and he was followed by Steve Young. It took 2 HoF QB's, and he stayed healthy most of his career.

I think someone will have more than 8 INT's in a game simply because as passing yards go up, INT's will go up.

The records set by Manning and Brady today will be broken by Brees and Rodgers tomorrow....and on it goes.

Tony Dungy's record of throwing a pass for a TD and INT a pass for a TD in the same game wont ever be touched.

That is amazing. I mistakenly wrote that Paul Krause did it, but it was really a guy named Jim Hardy. Krause had 81 picks in his career, the all-time record.

Joe Namath threw 220 picks...

Possible, but you can't really assume a guy will play long enough to break career marks. For example, if Terrrell Davis had been able to play eight more years like his first four years in the league, he, not Emmit Smith, would be all the all-time rushing leader.

8 more years through age 34 at his year 1-4 pace ? Wow, that's a really big if. If Barry had decided to play a few more years instead of hang em up he would have put it > 20,000 yards. That's a bit more realistic seeing as he was

I'll go with Blanda's 27 seasons and throwing a TD pass at age 47 or Favre's iron man or Int record.

Where are you guys getting Krause for 8 Ints in a game ? Football reference has several guys tied for the record at 4. They have Krause with 3 once.

Oh I see. Hardy threw 8 Ints. I think someone would get yanked before that could happen. It's not impossible though.

The pass was from David Kreig to Paul Skansie. KC was so impressed with Kreig that he started at QB for them. I don't remember if the Hawks traded him or just let him go. Kreig was a decent QB with a problem of losing the ball out of his hand when he went back to pass. We called it the "soapdish" I think.
