I thought that contract was stupid from day 1. A number of Rams fans boo'd me on my comment, but here it is. I just don't see committing that much money (especially in signing bonus) to a runningback, but whatevs.

I think Tennessee is about to make the same mistake. I can't imagine Henry is too far away from injuries.. he had nearly 400 carries last year with playoffs and took a LOT of big hits (but kept moving because his own size). And I can't imagine the Titans philosophy will change at all in 2020-21 because Tannehill and their receivers are not leading anyone to the promised land.
I don't think I had a convo with you when that contract came out but I Dec would have agreed with you Sharks, 100%. I was one if the few that hated it fron the get go as well and I still hate it. So good riddance to a dude who tried to keep has arthritic knees condition quiet while he got as much as he could get.

Miami just signed Jordan Howard to a lucrative contract. ATL makes sense though at the right price

Henry had 303 carries
but wasnt such the workhorse his 1st three years so really only averaging just over 200 carries a season.
I think he has a full contract worth of wear & tear on his body still.
Either way the key to a RB Contract as far as guaranteed money is roster bonuses & a low signing bonus. Gives the RB bulk of his money at start of each year so game checks are smaller (just in case of fines or whatnot) but also gives the team an out just in case of injury or hitting that RB wall that sometimes happens.
If I am the titans I definitely pay Henry. Also wouldnt so much worry about the amount but how it was laid out.

Paying Henry long-term would be dumb. They would be awarding him for basically have a great one half of a season
he went
4.5
4.2
4.9 (when they actually started using him as the main guy)
5.1 yards per carry

he isnt a flash in the pan (if that was what you were eluding too)

Inconsistent, yes. Since he wasn't getting a ton of carries before this year those numbers are definitely skewed from the BIG play and having a BIG game. Explosive RB - without a doubt but he is not going to last much longer as well.
Take 2018 for example: Didn't clear 60 yards until game 14 then he had over 600 of his 1,000 yards.
No way I am paying him long-term especially when he doesn't have a long history of being a high volume RB.
This year he proved himself but don't fall into the trap Tennessee.

Well, the Rams just made this a two-team race. Sweep by Seattle?

If the Chiefs get Gurley at a low cost number so it foots the Rams the bill on a 1 year deal, even I'd approve of it.

like the Wentz project in injury rehabilitation?
Not at all. Pay attention.

The Eagles won a Super Bowl during that time and the Rams were humiliated by the same team. 3 points.:laugh3:
