And the Rams window is closed.

That really was a short, anti-climatic, cute little project they had going there.:dhd:

This year will be the teetering point for sure...If they don't get back to the dance this yr, I think the shine on McVay's genius label will start to tarnish as well.

The Athletic's Jeff Schultz reports the Falcons have interest in a trade for Todd Gurley but that the obstacles are likely too difficult to surmount.
The Falcons already have a ton of money invested in their skill corps, and Gurley has one of the worst contracts in the NFL. The Falcons have the need, and Gurley is a hometown hero, but this seems extremely unlikely to happen.

But doesn't that end only if they trade him by tomorrow?

Not entirely sure how that works with the time lines and the signing bonus, but I don't see how the Rams can get away from any of the signing bonus if traded. They got to prorate it so they have to keep it I thought.

If a team trades for him for before the roster bonus is made, they assume the roster bonus against their cap.

What pisses me off to no end is why Snead, McVay, and Demoff concocted this mess to begin with. With all they knew at the time, they went ahead anyways and any player would jump at the plethora of goodies that contract has built right in. All of the genius characterizations for these three are history. They are a collective bunch of Dumbfucks that can't get out of their own way fast enough.

If they had won the Superbowl would your opinion be the same?

The Rams dynasty took less time to end than it did for their stadium to be built.

The Rams were not going to find anyone dumb enough to take that ridiculous contract so they saved themselves the guaranteed roster bonus they would have had to pay if Gurley was around tomorrow.

If the Rams would have won the superbowl the intensity of my angst would have come down a notch or two but I still would have thought the same because the Rams knew more about his knee condition then they let on and they went ahead anyways and derived one of the worst contracts on the planet.

It appears the Rams are on full rebuild mode (especially on D) and attempting to garnering more cap space with the release of Matthews.

yeah the Roster bonus (7.55) would have been almost as much as if the Rams waited two years to bring down the dead cap (8.2) but would have continued to pay Gurley & pay him yearly roster bonuses. This is honestly a very good move. & helps save some cap space.

I thought that contract was stupid from day 1. A number of Rams fans boo'd me on my comment, but here it is. I just don't see committing that much money (especially in signing bonus) to a runningback, but whatevs.

I think Tennessee is about to make the same mistake. I can't imagine Henry is too far away from injuries.. he had nearly 400 carries last year with playoffs and took a LOT of big hits (but kept moving because his own size). And I can't imagine the Titans philosophy will change at all in 2020-21 because Tannehill and their receivers are not leading anyone to the promised land.

Brandin Cooks is turning into the village bicycle.
Most teams have a need for speed somewhere in their scheme. He’s a little overpriced for what he is at this point though.

Paying Henry long-term would be dumb. They would be awarding him for basically have a great one half of a season
