Only other contender is Robb Nen and I don't remember him being this good, Doval obviously hasn't built the resume yet but Nen was never this electric.

I propose Rod Beck very underrated maybe because he didn't strike out as many but then soft grounders and medium fly balls don't seem as dominant. Also If I remember good at getting DPs. Actually was slightly better against left handers but great against both. But I could see Doval surpassing him. All the Love for Beck!

I vote for Nenn, then Lavelle, then Beck , then Doval.

body of work isn’t big enough yet.

My point is Doval is too new to have a body of work but the talent we are seeing this year has never been topped in Giants history. There's never been a closer this strong.

He gets rattled sometimes, but he is still super young, and he doesn’t SHOW when he is rattled. He absolutely has ice-in-the-veins potential. If he is able to avoid elbow/shoulder trouble, he could be something special. And he will need to learn how to pitch better once he has his inevitable TJ.

Doval is at 51 coming into today. He will likely pass Mr King next year.

Billie Jean King’s brother, one Randy Moffitt.
He's only 31 away from him, outside chance he passes him this year. By the end of 2024 he may have moved to #4 on the list behind Wilson

He isn’t going to have back to back Thigpen seasons. Be realistic.

I did say maybe...and if anyone can do that this guy can. So he will be close then. Either way dude is GOAT Giant closer, and over the next few years his resume will reflect that (barring injury of course)

I remember that over 100 win season with no playoffs where Mike Jackson, setup guy, got injured in the last two months and they over used Beck and hurt his arm/shoulder and his effectiveness was hurt a bit and not long after he moved on. That was a Real Bummer. If Jackson doesn't get injured I think the Giants win the division and Beck probably has a couple more years at the top.

And how about Nen basically giving up his career to pitch over and over in the 2002 Series? He's the only one who is in Doval's vicinity to me. He was only 32 and he never pitched again after.

Just looked him up, his 2000 season was so sick, he was 4th in Cy Young voting LOL

Or if the freakin’ Rox could win just 1 single game against the Braves.

I blame Colorado for 1993. 100%.
