So, all the cheating is simply going to go away because the NCAA is gone? I get that you might get a more streamlined NCAA-type organization, but there is no way your can run a 4 billion dollar sports league without an centralized rules and enforcement group. You guys already cheat badly enough, imagine what you would do if there was no enforcement!
No rules at all. Then they can't be broken. Just the wild, wild, west. Anything goes. Recruit, hire, kidnap, whoever you can get to play. No age limit either way.

That's why I think conferences policing themselves under an agreement with the other conferences works.

Georgia isn't going to let Florida get away with shit and Auburn isn't going to do that with Bama.

At the conference level if the SEC doesn't police itself the other conferences vote to keep them out of the playoffs for a set time period.

It becomes in everyone's best interest to play ball.

If I am any conference, I am not going to leave it up the another conference. Most already have a problem with the ACC and SEC playing 8 IC games, and playing FCS schools. The SEC would have a minimum GPA of 1.0, and the B1G and PAC and ACC will call BS on that. The B12 would say fine, ours is .75. 4 billion dollars ... there is no way it stays together out of trust.

"The conference votes" ... that means there is a mechanism to enforce things. To that you have to promulgate rules, and ways to punish those who violate the rules. In other words, NCAA2.0, but with more aligned expectations because the P5 schools are more alike with more common interests. But there would have to be a governing body.

Your mind is going to worse case scenarios and you're really not thinking it through. A simple check and balance system between the conferences can be established with agreed-upon standards. It's really not as difficult as you are perceiving.

If your mind doesn't go to worst case scenarios in anything involving the violation of rules in college football and sports, you are ignoring decades of precedent, as well as human nature. Simply wishing that college coaches and athletes are suddenly going to be on their best behavior is not a plan. If anything, the NIL issue will force schools to push the boundaries of what they can and can't do, not the opposite.

No, you are completely ignoring the current compliance that conferences are now doing. Most of the crap that happens the NCAA leaves up to the conferences to police in the first place. You simply don't know how the system truly works but I worked at a law firm that did NCAA compliance cases and I can assure I know more than I should.

If the conference create an oversight committee and the penalty is a ban from the playoffs then no one is going to sniff the worst-case scenarios. Will stuff still happen like at Ole Miss and Louisville? Sure, but the conferences will handle it with predetermined procedures.

The NCAA is going away and there is no way the P5 is going to cede control back over to a centralized organization so this is the new reality. You can choose to believe or live in denial.

I am not living in denial ... we are discussing something on a sports board where I think you are mistaken in your beliefs. There is no "new reality" because nothing has happened yet, and it won't happen for a few years at the earliest. Just because you think this is what will happen doesn't make it "reality.' But, we'll leave it at that and have to agree to disagree. Time will tell.

Actually it is the new reality that the P5 conferences are stripping the NCAA of the majority of their control and they aren't going to cede it back. If you don't understand that then you don't have a clue how things really work.

Feel free to put me on ignore again.

I hadn't really thought of any. As far as power 5 teams moving, I could see Arkansas, Missouri, Texas AM and Nebraska, forming the nucleus of one new conference and fill it in with other teams like Cincinnati, Houston, maybe two MAC teams, Tulsa, Utah State, Utah and Colorado.

Nebraska will only leave the B1G is if they get kicked out. Only using Oklahoma since they are the second highest paid in the Big 12 and has name recognition.

Let's compare the conference payouts

2018 Nebraska was paid $54,000,000 by the B1G
2018 Oklahoma was paid $38,800,000 +9,700,000(3rd tier) = $48,500,000

2018 Nebraska R&L 84,405,982
2018 Oklahoma R&L 55,734,937

Only five schools make more than $80,000,000 in R&L, Texas, Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Nebraska

Now let's compare research dollars in
2017 Nebraska 302,204,000
2017 Oklahoma 272,239,000

Now let's compare the total increase in research dollars since Nebraska joined the B1G, using 2010 as the base year as that is the final year Nebraska was in the Big 12.
Nebraska 346,204,000
Oklahoma 247,239,000

Nebraska has increased their research dollars by nearly $100,000,000 more than Oklahoma in that time frame.

Now let's compare Nebraska research dollar growth to the entirety of the big 12 2011-2017
Nebraska 346,204,000
Iowa State 315,384,000
Oklahoma 247,239,000
Texas 224,887,000
Kansas 194,619,000
Texas Tech 183,482,000
K State 166,778,000
WVU 111,206,000
Baylor 61,300,000
Okie State 44,078,000
TCU 15,000,000

Okay, so what has the b1G done to increase research dollars in 2011-2017
Michigan 1,370,963,000
Indiana 1,064,141,000
Wisconsin 738,591,000
blah blah blah
Maryland 408,904,000
Nebraska 346,204,000
Purdue 288,261,000
Iowa 77,468,000

Nebraska has increased their research dollars EVERY year since joining the B1G, The Big Ten Academic Alliance is a boon for Nebraska,

if Nebraska had stayed in the Big 12, they would have received a lot less in conference payouts, and surely would not have increased their research dollars. Remember, the original Big 12 contract was set to expire in 2014-2015.

it is possible to conclude that the fine academic institution of Texas is being dragged down by remaining in the Big 12.

Nebraska will not leave the B1G. You might want Nebraska out, but they won't leave on their own.

You spent a lot of time on that or found some article. Kudos to you sir.

I don't have the time to argue with you, and I might wind up agreeing in the end, but your point of money is everything, when it comes to college football is certainly one I can agree with.

Oh yeah, the trash talk is special but we all know there's only so much you can poke at til Nebraska closes the argument with any Big 12 team by saying 1 of 2 things:
1. Look who are our new friends (not the West silly, but the teams in the EAST!)
2. Yeah ou, you won the conference multiple times since we left and made a CFP..HOWEVER how much money did YOU make?!?! HAHAHAHA (takes a bite of roasted corn)

the fans are happy with the cash and the ability to play it's new rivals in Iowa, MN, NW, WI, IL, etc. Besides finishing 3rd/4th in your division is like finishing 2nd in the Big 12.. just ask aggy.

The biggest reason Oklahoma and Texas can co-exist in spite of their heated rivalry is because either school is capable of beating the other one on any given Saturday. Losing hurts so damn bad and winning feels so great that every effort will be made by both schools in every game they play knowing full good and well it's nearly a coin toss who will win the next game irrespective of who won or lost in the past. Nebraska could not beat some of the worst teams in Texas history and that was killing them. I am a big Nebraska fan but I doubt they will ever "be back" over an extended period of time. The game has changed, recruiting has changed and the ability to hire the best head coaches has shifted dramatically in favor of the schools that have a winning record over the past 20 years. Nebraska can salve his wounds with the extra money they are making but ask any random Nebraska fan how much of that money they would forfeit in order to be winning National Championships again and the answer will along the lines of "a helluva lot".
