Amaro is basically giving Hamels away along with Diekman for a load of low quality prospects and an old pitcher. Here are the names mentioned in the deal and their sour stats. Is there anyone in the front office who isn't a fucken idiot?

He gives away Papelbon, Hamels, and Diekman. The man is a raving lunatic and he has completely destroyed a once proud franchise.

Alfaro, Williams, and Thompson are legit prospects. May not turn into anything, but they have the potential. Alfaro just needs to learn plate discipline. Thompson just needs time, he has great stuff. Williams will be a solid corner.

Perhaps I'm being too harsh. I did expect a most desired prospect from the Rangers system. It seems OF Nick Williams has the most potential. .294 and has power. I can't figure out why we got the unhealthy LHP Harrison. All you can do it see how they develop. What the hell, the Phillies have some hopefuls in their system too. And we're still monitoring the progress of guys like Ruf, Brown, Rupp, Asche, and Hernandez, with Crawford, Quinn, and Altherr making progress in the minors.

yeah Harrison is a head scratcher to me too. He's healthy now, but I wouldn't let him do anything but bunt and stand there.

I don't know how anyone can complain about this haul. The Phillies got Texas' #2, #3, & #5 prospects along with a middle-back of the rotation arm that is controlled through 2018 & a lottery ticket.

With Hamels having veto power, that is a pretty good haul.

If Alfaro is #2 or #3 is dependent on which scout you ask, but Philly either got Texas' 2/3/5 or 3/4/5 prospects. It was a haul of prospects, but it sucks because they are all so young it will be 2 years before they are ready. There was talks of Alfaro getting some September time this year, but likely he was going to spend most of next year in the minors still too. If his ankle sets him back all this season like some think, then next year in the minors is a for sure.

Gallo and Mazaro are Texas 1 and 2 prospects, two outfielders with power right now. I felt Phils should have grabbed one of the two especially since Texas also got Diekman. In their system, Thompson, Williams, and Alfaro are listed as 4, 5, and 6. :hope:

no need to explain why it was such a nice score for the phils.

most of the people here are so whiny, they wouldn't be happy if they were priests and you were giving them a free lifetime supply of candy and unlimited access to the boys locker room.

Problem is, if you get Gallo (who strikes out like a mother fucker), you'd likely get two or three less prospects in the package as a whole and you've pinned the trade almost entirely on Gallo. A lot of GMs feel that in trades like this, it's better to get a haul of 2nd tier prospects than to get one high end prospect because of the attrition rates of prospects. I can't say I disagree with that idea either. For every Mike Trout, there are dozens, if not hundreds of Phil Hugheses.

That said, I do think Amaro Jr is a bad GM. You all should have realized that the second the Howard contract was announced.

Texas isn't mathematically out of it this year, but at four games back for a wild card with seven teams ahead of them, I'm thinking this was a move more for next year, yeah?

If Darvish bounces back and they've added Hamels, that's a good start.

We needed a #1 for Hamels and Diekman. :gaah: :lm:

Just so I'm clear, are you referring to Jake Diekman? If so, why even mention him? The guy sucks balls. He sucked in the minors and he sucks in the majors. Who cares where he goes?

Agreed. The Rangers did well not giving up Gallo or ChiChi, but they gave up 3 kids who have big-time tools

It actually makes sense to me. It is another way for the Phillies to give some money to the Rangers, but also gives them a lottery ticket on a guy who was once successful in the majors. Sure, if you're the Rangers maybe you wouldn't want to use him because the Rangers are actually close to being competitive. But if you're the Phillies and he's healthy I'd absolutely throw him out there-unless you're worried about him taking innings away from Chad Billingsly, Jerome Williams or Aaron Harang.

Oh you're alive? I saw in the news the other day that some guy was tricking in North Philly and got stabbed to death after he got in the car. I just assumed it was you...
