The only time Phil Jackson has coached a team without superstars, and look how great a coach the Zen Master really is. He has to be the luckiest man ever in sports, followed closely by Pat Reilly.

I knew this would be a disaster. While there is much debate on his stature as a coach due to having so much talent at his disposal with the Bulls and Lakers, there was no way he was going to succeed in this position.

1) Phil has a tremendous ego
2) He should have deep-sixed Melo first thing
3) Forcing an archaic offense on players rather than developing a scheme that fits them was a mistake
4) He never hired a decent coach
5) I don't think he was ever really engaged with this job
6) Dolan.....

Phil Jackson the type of guy to go to the Warriors to trade Steph, KD, Klay, and Dray for some second round draft pick and a half eaten granola bar.

Carmelo continues to dodge any responsibility with this organization.

Didn't he try to bring in Durant?

About time.

Making Hornacek the coach ( who was Markieff bitch in Phoenix ) should've been the final straw right there.

As a Lakers fan I feel nothing but gratitude and a feeling of being blessed that Phil Jackson went to New York instead of Low Angeles. My deepest condolences to NY fans for this drama:lol:

lol @theKnicks.

Phil is right, they do need to move on from Melo.

After all of the stupid shit that Phil has done as GM...Dolan wants to get rid of him over one of the only 2 things that he's actually been right about since he was hired.
Phil resigned Melo in his first year only because he knew there would be hell to pay if didn't. He never did like the player because Melo stops good ball movement

Yeah, I know why Phil re-signed him. He never should have agreed to the NTC though. Doing that left Melo holding all of the cards.

To be fair, they resigned Mello mostly because, especially pre-Porzingas, the Knicks had absolutely nothing else

Agree 100%. It's the same reason the Lakers gave Kobe the money they did on his last contract. End of the day, it's a business and they need butts in seats and advertising revenue. Guys like Melo and Kobe accomplish both of those things.

I just think the NTC was a bad idea.

Agree totally on the NT, but you nailed it with Kobe...This is LA and NY, giving those markets nothing at all to come see, is just not going to work

I love to tell you, "I told you so".

After the first front office job he did with the Pistons head coaching search where they ended up with mediocre retread Maurice Cheeks it was obvious.

He was a great coach, but he walked into situations where he had the most talent in the league. Sure, he was able to get them to work together, which is no easy task and previous coaches had failed at, but it is a completely different game assessing, drafting, and trading to build a team than it is to get the most talented guys to work together. Just like not all previously great players make good coaches or GMs, not all previously great coaches will make good GMs.

Are you talking about Phil Jackson? When did he ever work for the Pistons?

Right before he took the Knicks job he consulted on their coaching search, and did so horribly.
