Good win, and I loved the gap control in the 6-on-5. Kept the Lightning to the outside and made entries a pain. Great work to lock down the win.

Extra minutes seems to be at the expense of Martin who played 19:21, his season average 22:20.

Just imagine the player they would have today if Despres got full time NHL experience the last two seasons.

I have to agree, he came in with a good game plan but couldn't adjust.

I've been really impressed with Johnston so far. He really has a good feel for the game and the team. And he's not opposed to riding the hot hand, even if the hot hand is a young, unproven player, as evidenced by Despres's increased ice time and Rust getting time on Geno's wing tonight.

You hit the nail on the head there Doobster. Under Bylsma you could see what kind of a game it was going to be in the first period, because he never changed a thing.

I liked how he put Rust on the 1st line with Geno & Comeau, Disco would've never done something like that. He would've just played Craig Adams more.

Sill played the last 4 years with Wilkes-Barre and, as far as I can tell, this is his first season in the NHL. He's only played 20 games, but you're right he doesn't even have an assist. He wasn't a goal scorer in Wilkes-Barre, but he had a lot of big hits. Maybe that's all they were looking for in Pittsburgh, but I'll agree with Doobster. Bring up Dea or Pouloit and send Sill back down.

I want to throw a question out. Do you think the Pens would have still won even if Bishop had been in the net the whole time? It was, what 1 -1 when he left and then Nabby gave up 3.

Hard to say for sure, Bishop is for sure the better goalie and the Lightning are a much better team when he's in net.

At the same time, I think it would've been tough for a goalie to stop Rust, Downie, & Dumoulin's goals from happening.

Also, Nabokov's save % was 0.857 last night while Bishop's save % was 0.800

But at the end of the day, I really don't know

To be honest no way of knowing. If Nabakov came in and made a few big saves it could have went the Lightning way.
