Next year we have enough CAP room to extend him. I cannot believe we signed the best CB in the last 20 years.

we Pats fans can step off the ledge

Does anyone know if that $12mil has to account for the cap or can say $6mil be a signing bonus or something? Last I heard, we were $16mil under the cap. If Revis accounts for $12m, that leaves $4m

Pats released Sopoaga and have others they need to drop and will redo Vince and can easily get to $25 mil under CAP not including Revis money and every dime counts against the 2014 CAP and revis is worth every single dime of it.

ProFootballFocus had him rated as best corner in NFL despite playing on a knee he was still coming back from.

Bonuses can only be prorated over the length of the contract. For a one year deal it's all that year.

Shocked at the price and that Bill would spend that much.

well I honestly never saw this coming. 1 year at only $12 million. Broncos are pissed!

When it was known Revis was going to FA I thought for sure he wouldn't sign for anything less than what Talib got.

The Patriots have Revis locked up for three years. He's agreed that they can franchise him in 2015 and 2016. The CB salary will be $13M in 2015 and $14M in 2016 but cap is expected to go up at least $10M-$13M each year due to the TV contracts and it could be more because NFL Network will putting Thursday Night games out for bid.

No one has seen or heard from Jared Allen.........is he having a sleepover at Belichick's?

First off Bronco fans are not pissed off at this. Kind of comes with the territory that you start an arms race others are going to add to their arsenal. Second by you saying him signing for less are you meaning in overall money of the contract cause well yeah a 6 year contract is going to usually be for more money than a 1 year contract? Now if you are talking on a yearly basis Revis' contract blows Talib's out of the water. He is still the highest paid Cornerback in the NFL even with the little bit of a pay cut.

In essence he is the replacement to Champ, is that how you see it? A younger Champ.

You are assuming 1) that the price for the Franchise Tag will stay the same. With the huge rise in Salary Cap you can expect that Franchise Tags will get a whole lot more expensive. 2) When a player is tagged a 2nd time they get a 20% raise if I remember right which would be more than just a million dollars from one year to the next. It is why teams don't tag players a 2nd time.

Also I would love to see your evidence that he has said the Patriots can just tag him the next 2 years and he will be fine with that. No player would ever say that as almost every NFL player hates the Franchise Tag especially the top tier players as they like getting that guaranteed money.

Well it is hard to judge right now. Talib for a more up to date signing is replacing DRC. The Broncos want to get more physical and DRC is just not the type that likes to mix it up. He is great in coverage but he won't fight like Talib will at the line of scrimmage. Now as for replacing Champ in the sense of that great veteran Corner yeah he is our replacement. They actually have a very similar game and actually injury history wise are pretty similar. Champ since joining the Broncos has played in all 16 games less than half the seasons he was here. Physical corners get nicked up during the season some so to me honestly Talib's injury history doesn't worry me too much and him even sitting out a couple of games a season is not too big of a concern. Mostly just want him for the playoffs more than anything else obviously.

I will say very impressed by the Patriots willing to get a little aggressive. Signing Revis is very much against what they have represented for years but hey to be top dog sometimes you have to take a chance. Starting to look like a 2-horse race for the AFC (obviously depending some on injuries).

Totally agree. Revis was a great sign !! BB needs to keep going tho, can't sign just one guy but this was a great first step in the right direction that he has somewhat ignored for years !! 2 horse race all the way ! Looks like we are going to NE yet again this year in regular season, dont know quite how that keeps happening but hopefully we see you at Denver in the playoffs, both teams will be in great shape !
