Hell of a success story. An absolute physical freak from Australia that never played football in his life. Eagles drafted him in the 7th round 4 years ago and then the best oline coach in the league has developed him since. He has all the potential in the world to become the best LT in the league and is only going to get better over time. Only just played his first snaps in an actual football game last season and he was great. The Eagles are again set at LT for another decade. From 1 decade with Tra Thomas at LT to one decade with Jason Peters at LT to now a decade hopefully with Mailata at LT.

Speaking of Jason Peters, for reference look at how small Mailata makes Jason Peters look.

Could have potentially entered next offseason looking to become the highest paid LT in the league if he has a great year this year. Major steal. The reverse Cowboys with Dak Prescott and his contract.

I think it is a good signing. He is now the 7th highest paid LT. If he has a good season he would have commanded a bigger deal, so Philly is betting that signing him early turns into a bargain, and I think the risk in this case is worth it.

Be interesting to see how much is guaranteed here. Because betting on a 28 year old to improve in the NFL is usually a bad bet no matter what the firm stances were previous.

What about paying 16M to protect the great Deshaun Watson from the hordes of lying whores, and also Dlinemen?

(Or is it a gaggle?)

Pretty sure the organization that has gone from Franchise LT to Franchise LT to now Franchise LT knows what it is doing when it comes to committing to their franchise LT.

This guy has 10 career starts and got paid 16 million a year?

But he's probably going to be the best OL to ever play.

He also drives the best car ever made, he's the world's best yodeler, and holds the world record for being the best at things.
