I would take Kane way before I would take Sid.

Sid still is a baby and cry's non stop. Kane just performs. He does take nights off and goes though the motions but come time when games matter he is a beast.

Where I rank him in todays NHL.

I would say top 5 players. So aint Sid but I would still take Kane

yea, theres no doubt that his off ice stuff got air time. But I dont think I ever heard him excluded from any conversations of being one of the best because of it. Thats what I'm saying. Most people, it would definitely take them out of the talk, but Kane has always been so good that he was always still in the conversation

Even if I thought that they were equal talents (and I don't, Sid is better) I'd take the centre before the winger every single time.

Besides Ovie, there probably isn't a better winger in the league right now other than Kane. He's a hell of a talent. Can't wait to see how he does for the U.S. In Sochi!

Kane's been pretty close to keeping pace this year,
but that's still pretty bold ranking given their entire body of work thus far

Definitely,top 10.
plays a lot bigger than what he is.

I only judge players,by on ice performance, and all the shit that happens off ice is not even startling anymore.

Couple comments:

1. I agree with evo. I think Kane is the 2nd best winger in the game.

2. That probably puts him top 10 imo.

3. I hate pretty much everything about Crosby (seems like a fine dude off the ice) . But he's still far and away the best player in the game I think.

Totally agree top 10 player without a doubt. Possibly top US born player right now ahead of Parise, due to the stanley cups, Conn Smythe and Calder. His off ice antics probably will keep him from that over Parise but looking at the body of work he has accomplished much more but the team helps that also.

But one thing about making him the 2 best winger right now I am torn between him and Corey Perry? Perry has a cup, the Hart and 50 goal season (richard trophy). His rookie year he had no chance at the Calder due to AO, Crosby and the fact he only played 50 some games.

I think it's more the fact that you did exactly the thing which Boss brought up as something which kind of peeves him in his first post, like you completely ignored that point.

You may disagree with him on whether or not Crosby still whines and dives, but you ignored that dissent in your post, and instead treated it as known fact.

I'm just guessing that's what upset him.

I think he is in the top five. I never had much of an issue with him. He was basically a kid when he came into the league. The partying and stuff is something a lot of players go through.

He's probably top five for me, too.

Crosby, Ovechkin, Stamkos, Kane, and Chara may be my top five right now.

I think he's around a top 5-8 forward in the league.

I'd still rather have Sid, Malkin, OV, Stamkos, Datsyuk and Toews ahead of Kane. I'd put him in the same ball park as the Sedins, Getzlaf, St. Louis, etc.

There are 3 or 4 defenseman I'd probably want on my team before Kane as well as a couple of goalies.

I guess I'd put him in the 10-15 range of players in the league.

I suppose. Did not mean to ruffle anyone. Feel free to delete my post.

Top 10 most definitely. I've never liked him because he's always oozed "frat boy/can't hold his liquor/douch bag" off the ice. He seems to be maturing a bit, but his off ice stuff has never changed the fact that he's been a great player. If we're going by forwards alone, I'd probably put him top 5. Only behind OV for wingers.

In terms of pure offensive ability, when he flips the switch and is on his game playing to his full potential he's a top 5 talent for sure. He's one of only a handful of guys that once they get into that mode they do whatever they want with the puck. He can make an entire D look silly, his stickhandling and his accuracy are all top notch.
