From what I heard on espn this morning, they basically need to make the conference finals to make it or to stand a chance on selection sunday

3/4 recap (Part 1: Non-tourney games)

Rhode Island is failing the eye test right now.

What, did the Rams lose again?
...Wait, no, they won that OT game over Davidson. So why did Hitman say that? Let me check the rest of the scores and see:

Top 25:
Kansas over Oklahoma State 90-85

Louisville over Notre Dame 71-64
North Carolina over Duke 90-83
Kentucky over Texas A&M 71-63
Vanderbilt upsets Florida 73-71 (Oh... I'd say this was a BIG win for the 'Dores. Well, at least it can't get worse for the Rams!)
Seton Hall upsets Butler 70-64 (Oooooo...)
Florida State over Miami 66-57

Other important games:
Rutgers over Illinois 62-59
(Aaaannnndddd, Illinois's NCAA hopes are dead!)
Indiana over Ohio State 96-92
Providence over St. John's 86-75
Kansas State over Texas Tech 61-48
Maryland over Michigan State 63-60
(Let's face it: It'll take a miracle for Michigan State to make the NCAA's now.)
Colorado over California 54-46
Marquette over Creighton 91-83
(Another blow against Rhode Island: Marquette looks NCAA-bound with this win.)
Syracuse over Georgia Tech 90-61 (Well... At least we won't have to worry about Georgia Tech stealing a spot now.)
Wake Forest over Virginia Tech 89-84 (However, we DO have to worry about the Deacons.)
George Washington upsets Dayton 87-81
Ole Miss over South Carolina 75-70

They failed the eye test, because they are a mid-major on the bubble and it took them OT to beat a sub-100 RPI team at home.

Missouri Valley Quarterfinals (From St. Louis, MO):
Evansville vs. Illinois State (1:00)

Missouri State vs. Northern Iowa (Around 9:30)

Murray State vs. UT-Martin (30 minutes after above game)

WCC Opening Round (From the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas):
Pacific vs. Pepperdine (9:00)
Portland vs. San Diego (30 minutes after above game)
And therein lies the rub of the NCAA. I have always proposed that each conference be told how many of its teams will get into the tourney prior to the conference tourneys. For example, let's say the Big 10 is told 7 of its teams will get in, if they (as a conference) choose to send a tourney champion that has a record of 15 -17 because it wins the tourney, then the conference does not get to have 8 teams thereby knocking out a 29-5 non Power Five team.
