Our collective pessimism for the direction of the franchise aside, it's good to have baseball back.

I won't be joining ya'll on the game thread as I'll be going to the game and starting my pre-game festivities around 2:30 as I need to be nice and drunk in order to watch this team.

And I might be one of the few, but that trade doesn't bother as much as it once did. Jones turned into a good outfielder, but the rest of the players in it were average at best. Some never made it.

Bedard was 13-5 with a 3.16 ERA pitching in the Eastern Division the year before we traded for him in the off season. He also had 221 K's in 182 IP and was 12th in WAR. It should have worked, but of course it went the way of all things Mariners.

If a number 9 hitter goes 0-3 in baseball then 1-8 are more responsible than the number 9 guy.

I will say at least we have a viable option back there for once. I really liked what I saw in Marjama during spring, but hopefully this isn't extended for Zunino.
