In other news, Letang is looking at homes in the Seattle area.

Not really hate just injuries and big contract.
When healthy he is good but that was a long time ago, this season he will play his most games in a season since 2010-2011.

Letang's a good defenseman IMO. Offensively mainly mind you but he's still a good 1 and would be good on any team in the NHL.

Very true. But with the Penguins they have 5 players over 30 tied up for the next 5 years. His is probably the least friendly deal due to his injuries and also not being named Malkin or Crosby.

And this fact is why they had to let Cole go. They knew they weren't likely to retain him so they moved to get an asset.

And likely played a key role in why they didn't make an effort to keep Fleury.

Yeah, I really wanted to keep Niskanen and let Letang go, but it just wasn't feasible contractually at the time.

At least we got rid of Orpik so that took a bit of the sting out of losing Nisky. Subtracting a negative is a positive.
