I made the argument that ND did belong, they just happened to play a Clemson team that could win it all and would pummel every team in the country, not just ND. Clemson was just too damn good this year.

If not for some timely calls by the refs Syracuse would have beat Clemson. Alabama's play calling was was horrible and Clemson took advantage of Bama' s best corner and DL losses

I could argue that Baylor won the head to head with TCU that year and if anyone got picked it should have been them. Fact is Ohio State and Alabama were most likely the 2 best teams and they played in the semi-final so the best teams made it in.
