Would love to hear reports on how Dee Gordon looks in CF if anyone hears anything.

Well I watched the first 3 innings and the only play he was involved in was a base hit between 2B and the second baseman and he ran over cut it off and threw a 3 hopper into 2B from medium CF. I couldn't tell if he slipped or not, but the throw was weak. I hope that isn't a sign of things to come, but it was my big worry. I know he can catch and should be able to track, but an infield arm is way different than an outfield arm.

Haniger has a sore hand and Vogelbach in a walking boot. You really can’t make this shit up

According to the box score on ESPN the Padres pitchers threw 5 pitches or fewer in 5 innings and 54 pitches total in 9 innings. Is that accurate?

I went to the game yesterday, and it was cold as shit!

That being said, I really like the top of the order. We came out of the gates on fire up until we got beyond our major leaguers and got to the invitees before the rally died. Gamel had a great diving play in left which was nice to see, but not much in terms of opportunity in terms of seeing Dee’s growth; in due time. One thing that stood out to me was Zunino’s speed when throwing out at second. He sailed the ball just a bit, but watching his speed from squat is impressive. He’s a solid athlete no doubt. Unfortunately both he and Vogelbach got hit by a pitch, and it sounds like Vogs is in a boot. He stayed in the game so it’s probably just precautionary would be my guess.

Happy the boys are back, hopefully we can get over the hump this year.

Are you going to make it to any other games? Be nice to get some updates from those attending the games.

going into ST VBach seemed like the odd man out between Ford and Healy. But with Healy being out for a bit Vogelbach could earn a spot if he hits, the boot wont help. Who knows with Ford? I actually like him but time will tell.

My wife and I stayed up and watched part of the game on TV and saw all the coats on. We are both kind of glad we missed it this year...though it is cold as shit here in SW WA.

I hope you can keep us updated from there. TV and reporters just don't give you everything.

How about those hardball questions to John Stanton in the 2nd inning. All about the fan experience, nothing about adding pitching. What a powderpuff organization.

I heard all about them working on base running this spring. I guess Motter must have missed those days.

Krueger just said that 4 of the top 5 playoff teams led the league in avg innings per start for starting pitching. Interesting that DIP goes the opposite way and wants more arms per game instead of more innings per game.

Bill Krueger said it best during the game when asked about a 6 man rotation to protect their pitchers. He said if their top 2 pitchers are that fragile and need a 6 man rotation then you have bigger problems. Amen!

On a more positive note, Gordon does look natural going back on balls.

I think he is going to be fine out there. Some mistakes will happen throughout the course of the season just because of lack of experience. His speed/athleticism will make up for some mistakes too.

Agreed, but I still want to see him make a throw to 3B or home.
