PEORIA, Ariz. — The Mariners have apparently added another outfielder to their big league spring training to provide some experienced depth in the organization.

Junior Lake, a veteran outfielder from the Dominican Republic, has a locker and a jersey in the Mariners’ big league clubhouse. Manager Scott Servais said that Lake has agreed to a minor league contract with an invite to spring training. The deal will become official if/when Lake passes his physical upon arriving to Arizona.

I think that is a joke, Jerry and Stanton said they had money to spend if it was the right fit just a few weeks ago. If the team was up against the budget then why in the front door would he use all of it on Dee Gordon and reliever instead of a starter?

There it is. Why this is just now being recognized to need surgery who knows. I thought this new medical process would be the “biggest acquisition” of the offseason. Already paying dividends

Yeah, I don't get his either. I read that he had some discomfort awhile ago and they just shut him down from activity for a few weeks. Why not get it x-rayed and an MRI at that point? dum dums...

Maybe since Jerry has brought in so many mental experts they thought they could wish it away. They did wait along time to have Smyly and Iwakuma's surgery too didn't they?

This really sucks for Healy though, don't know really anything about him but the MLB Network thinks he needs a lot work at 1B and missing all spring really sucks.

I'll have a slightly positive outlook here in the sense that I wasn't real high on Healy to begin with and I don't hate the idea of Mike Ford getting more ABs right away. Usually Plate discipline is something that will transfer from level to level. Of all of the regulars to get hurt this one probably ranks towards the bottom in my mind. More just ridiculous that this injury couldn't have been caught sooner

If you and your family will be attending spring training again, I'd love to hear your updates. Going back to CBS I always enjoyed your observations.

I appreciate that, but no I will not going this year. My wife actually wants to but I am done with these fools. This would have been 10 straight and 12th overall, but just can't. My brother has gone to even more with his buddy and they are going somewhere else with their wives this year. Like a lot of you on here I have to at least be lied to better by them for some hope, but this year the lies are so ridiculous they are Trump esq.

Another option off the market;

The Orioles have finally gotten their hands on a starting pitcher. MASN’s Roch Kubatko reported on Thursday afternoon that the Orioles are signing free agent Andrew Cashner to a two year contract with $16 million guaranteed.

This is more the market I'm talking about, if the Mariners would rather go with guys who are long receivers than spending $8-10 million a year for 1 or 2 years then the organization is toast. Servais and Jerry talk about how great their offense was, but it was an average. They'd put up 8-10 runs one game then put up 1 or 2 the next few nights. If they don't put up 5 a night when anyone besides Paxton (when healthy) and Leake then it is nearly chalked up as a loss. I'm hoping Felix can bounce back but that is the same story for two years, Felix is in good shape and more determined than ever.
