Next Chance U: Dismissed Oklahoma QB Chris Robison will join Auburn transfer John Franklin III at FAU

In the middle of the afternoon Tuesday, Auburn confirmed that John Franklin III had decided to transfer from the Tigers in order to be closer to his Fort Lauderdale, Fla., home.

Not even four hours later, Chris Robison took to social media on his private Twitter account to announce that he too will be transferring into Kiffin’s FAU program.

Reports: Ex-Clemson, Florida OL Jake Fruhmorgen transfers to Baylor

In late-June of this year, Florida announced that Jake Fruhmorgen, a transfer from Clemson, had officially joined the Gators. Four days later, it was reported that Fruhmorgen had decided to step away from football, at least in Gainesville.

Nearly seven weeks later, he’s reportedly stepped back in as both TigerNet.com and SicEm360.com are reporting that Fruhmorgen has enrolled at Baylor and will continue his collegiate football playing career with the Bears.

Day after leaving TCU, Isaiah Chambers transfers to Houston

Because of a family situation, Isaiah Chambers announced on Twitter Tuesday that he would be transferring from TCU in order to be closer to home. Less than 24 hours later, the defensive lineman, a native of Houston, did just that as he took to the same social media website to announce the Houston Cougars as his new college football home.

Washington suspends Preseason All-American LB Azeem Victor, DB Austin Joyner

Chris Petersen has suspended senior linebacker Azeem Victor and sophomore defensive back Austin Joyner ahead of No. 8 Washington’s season-opener at Rutgers.

Victor will miss just the Rutgers game, while Joyner will also sit the following week against Montana.

Petersen declined to elaborate on the nature of the pair’s suspensions, simply stating they were being held out for a violation of team rules.

Another Wisconsin linebacker lost for season with injury

Earlier this month, starting inside linebacker Jake Cichy was lost to a season-ending ACL injury. Adding to that loss, UW confirmed over the weekend that outside linebacker Zack Baun will miss the entire 2017 season as well.

Baun had sustained a left foot injury recently which, ultimately, led to the decision to shut him down for the year.

Four-star 2016 LB Chauncey Manac transferring from Georgia

247Sports.com was the first to report that Manac had decided to leave Kirby Smart‘s second-year football program. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution subsequently confirmed through the linebacker’s aunt that the plan is for Manac to transfer to Garden City Community College in Kansas.

Tennessee suspends starting LT Drew Richmond for opener vs. Georgia Tech

Rivals.com reporting that redshirt sophomore Drew Richmond will be suspended for the Labor Day night game. An unspecified violation of team rules was the only reason given.

Torn ACL will sideline Louisville WR Devante Peete for entire season

Bobby Petrino confirmed that Devante Peete will miss the entire 2017 season after being diagnosed with a torn ACL in his right knee. No details of what led to the wide receiver’s season-ending injury were detailed.

Stetson LB Nick Blakely passes away following workout

Stetson linebacker Nick Blakely passed away Monday, the program has announced.

Blakely, 19, died following what program officials called a “light workout.” From the Orlando Sentinel:

"Stetson athletics director Jeff Altier said athletic trainers pulled Blakely out of a light workout when the football player said he did not feel well and complained of feeling light headed. The trainers watched Blakely for “30 to 40 minutes” when he started to show signs of recovery. Altier said Blakely then passed out. The athletic trainers performed CPR and used an AED until an ambulance arrived six minutes later."

Blakely was taken by ambulance to Florida Hospital DeLand, where he was pronounced dead.

Florida suspends two more, including leading rusher, for Michigan opener, bringing total to 10

Wednesday afternoon, UF announced that running back Jordan Scarlett and wide receiver Rick Wells have been suspended from all team activities. That means that, at bare minimum, the two will be sidelined for the 2017 opener this weekend against Michigan.

Tennessee LB Darrin Kirkland out for the season

Kirkland will miss the entire 2017 season after having surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee. He was initially ruled out for the Monday night game against Georgia Tech to wrap up Week 1, but the fear of him missing an extended period of time has now become reality for the Vols.
