Devaughn Cooper had been expected to be one of Arizona’s breakout players this coming season after an impressive spring. Unfortunately for both the player and the program, that won’t be the case.
The Wildcats released their updated roster Friday and, somewhat surprisingly, Cooper’s name wasn’t on it. It’s unclear what exactly the circumstances were surrounding the wide receiver’s departure, although one report had it taking place earlier this month.
Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi announced on Friday afternoon a slew of player-related discipline decisions and all four significantly alter the outlook for the Panthers during their upcoming non-conference slate to begin the season. Senior defensive end Rori Blair received the harshest punishment as he was dismissed from the program for “conduct detrimental to the program.”
As big of a loss as Blair is along the defensive line though, the team will also be without junior safety (and perhaps best defender on the team) Jordan Whitehead and starting middle linebacker Quintin Wirginis for the first three games of the year after unspecified violations of team policy. Starting offensive lineman Alex Bookser is also suspended for the season opener for “his involvement in an offseason legal situation involving a motor vehicle.”
The Cougars and Hokies will meet at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Virginia, on Sept. 26, 2026, with the second game scheduled for Sept. 14, 2030, at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo.
Williamson announced a transfer to the Golden Gophers on his Twitter account on Saturday night. “Truly thankful for the second opportunity God has presented me with,” he wrote. “I am truly excited to announce that I will be apart (sic) of the Minnesota Golden Gopher family.”
As far as the difficulty of the overall schedule, a lot depends on which ACC teams they have each year. Could make a very, very demanding schedule....or a mediocre one if the 5 ACC are the duds.Looks like ND is trying to do something like this with their future scheduling:
5 ACC teams
Navy, USC, Stanford
1 SEC school
1 B1G school
2 G5 schools, or in some years a combination of 1 G5 school and one P5 school.
Really love the future scheduling.

How is the rotation for the 5 ACC teams determined? They'll never play the perceived "powers" in the same year all that often. Which would be FSU, Clemson and Miami. So because they're spread out they should in theory play at least one top 25 team, if not a top 10 team like FSU and Clemson have been the last 3/4 years. Then you have programs like Va. Tech and Louisville, which have the potential to be top 25 teams. My guess is they'll probably average playing 2 ranked ACC schools per year. Which will be fine given they'll play USC & Stanford every year, and have future H&H's with the likes of UGA, Michigan, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Arkansas and Michigan State.
For 2019 for example ND actually misses all of FSU, Miami and Clemson. But we play both L'Ville and Va. Tech. Plus we also have to play @ Michigan, @ UGA and @ Stanford, along with USC at home.

Senior wide receiver LaQuvionte Gonzalez has been kicked off the team for a violation of team rules, as first reported by the Lawrence Journal World on Sunday afternoon.
While his new home has yet to confirm his addition, Character announced on Twitter that he is now a South Carolina Gamecock. The move comes nearly two months after the defensive back had decided to leave the Auburn football program.
Over the weekend, Aaron Robinson announced that he has decided to continue his collegiate playing career at Central Florida. Earlier this month, Robinson opted to transfer from Alabama for the unspecified reason of a better shot at playing time.
Following his first practice of the summer Monday evening, Bobby Petrino confirmed that Chris Williams is no longer a member of his U of L football program. Other than an unspecified violation of team rules, no specific reason for the defensive lineman’s divorce was given.
The football program announced Wednesday morning that junior Maea Teuhema has been indefinitely suspended from the team by head coach Ed Orgeron. The only reason given was the standard unspecified violations of team rules.
Teuhema was not on the field with the rest of his teammates as summer camp kicked off late last month because of what Orgeron described as “academic issues.”
Good question. What is worse than flattening a woman in a bar fight?[Wonder what you have to do in Norman to get the noot?
According to the Tallahassee Democrat‘s Jim Henry, Da’Vante Phillips has been arrested on five felony charges related to “cashing or depositing items with intent to defraud, grand theft.” TomahawkNation.com subsequently confirmed the initial report.
At this point in time, there are no details available as to what led to the arrest and charges. The football program did, though, announce that Phillips has been indefinitely suspended from the team by head coach Jimbo Fisher.
