Memphis OC Tries To Recruit Jalen Hurd, Reaches UT Frat Guy Instead

Jalen Hurd is leaving Tennessee midway through the 2016 football season and word is he's interested in transferring to a new school.

With that in mind, according to a tipster who provided the voicemail Memphis's offensive coordinator Chip Long decided to do his due diligence and call Jalen Hurd's cell phone and leave him a message pledging just how much Memphis would like to bring Hurd to the Tiger program. They'd be willing to even change the entire offense to fit his skill set.

That's all well and good.

Except, there was just one small problem.

Instead of calling Jalen Hurd, the Memphis offensive coordinator misdialed and left a message with a current Tennessee frat guy.

LSU coach Ed Orgeron on not getting the USC job: “To hell with them”

It turns out that the veteran coach still harbors a little bit of resentment at what happened back in Los Angeles and how the school ultimately passed on giving him the job in favor ofSteve Sarkisian.

“I’m better off at LSU, I’m with my people,” Orgeron told the Russillo and Kanellradio show. “Maybe I’m not the country club they wanted and, you know what, to hell with them.”

According to the The Tennessean, Brandon Vandenburg was sentenced by a criminal judge to 17 years in prison for the on-campus r*pe of an unconscious female student three years ago. Vandenburg could’ve faced up to 25 years in prison as a result of the conviction; the minimum sentence was 15.

Georgia State shells out $23 million for Turner Field, will repurpose MLB park for football

In the works for more than two years, Georgia State announced Wednesday that its board of regents has approved the university’s purchase of Turner Field. GSU purchased the stadium and 38 acres of the 68-acre site on which the now-former home of the Atlanta Braves sits for $22.8 million.

The university plans to renovate The Ted and use it as the home for its football team. The stadium will initially seat 23,000 fans, with the possibility of 10,000 seats being added in the future.

Fresno State officially confirms the hiring of Jeff Tedford

In a simple tweet Thursday afternoon, and following up on reports that gained steam Wednesday, Fresno State athletic director Jim Bartko confirmed that Jeff Tedford has been named as the football program’s next head coach. Tedford replaces Tim DeRuyter, who was fired Oct. 23 in the midst of his fifth season with the Bulldogs.

The long-time West Coast coach will be introduced at a press conference Friday.

Report: LSU contacts Jimbo Fisher about head coaching job

“Jimbo was Joe’s guy from the beginning, and I just don’t see him passing on hiring him,” a source close to the situation told NOLA.com. Hiring Fisher would cost LSU an additional $5 million, his buyout with Florida State.

Along with Fisher, LSU is reportedly reaching out to North Carolina coach Larry Fedora, Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy and Houston coach Tom Herman.

Irish Illustrated has learned that Florida, Pittsburgh, Michigan State and Wisconsin are the primary contenders for Zaire. With Notre Dame’s season complete, Zaire won’t have the conflict of bowl practices to prevent visits to other programs during the coming weeks.
