Guys we have 4 third rounders. They can still fill needs.

I'd really, really love the room but I want Gore for at least one more year. I want him around to rub off on Hyde as much as possible. Granted I think mentoring isn't always what everybody thinks it will be but I think it'd be or could be beneficial for Hyde to be around Gore for a while. He can get some things from Gore that he might not get anywhere else. Not that Gore is going to be super excited to take him under his wing but he's never been cold to people underneath of him in the past. Granted this is the closest somebody will come to taking his job in his career.

Hyde needs to work on his vision. The game has got to slow down for him. He could stand to get in slightly better shape for a while, too. That causes some of the dancing he does IMO. I don't want Hyde thrown in there as THE guy right away with just Lattimore and Hunter behind him for THIS season. Not unless Hyde just absolutely explodes right out of the gates early on.

Do you really think they are planning on keeping at least 4 RB's on the roster though? Gore, Hunter, Hyde, and Lattimore. I almost wonder if the Hyde pick means Hunter is now on the trade block. I can't see them giving up on Lattimore already and his contract is very team friendly. They just took Hyde so clearly he is making the roster. James is done as a 49er trade or no trade, but I wonder about Hunter's future now if they keep Gore for 1 more season.

I guess NE is trading Mallett or they don't think he is the future. He looked good in preseason.

Still a lot of solid players left and still 4 picks. it would surprise me if the 9ers did not use 2 and trade 2 into next season

Crimson- I think Gore needs one more year like Pozz stated. He's great in pass protection- which who knows how good Hyde would do with that his rookie year. Next year I could see it- but not now. Plus he's still productive despite his age and mileage.

Carlos Hyde - RB - 49ers

49ers traded with Miami to select Ohio State RB Carlos Hyde with the No. 57 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.

Hyde (5-foot-11 7/8, 230) started 20 games for the Buckeyes, turning 523 carries into 3,198 yards and 37 touchdowns. His career (6.11) and 2013 single-season (7.31) YPC averages each rank first in school history. Hyde managed 34 career receptions and is a work in progress in the passing game. He also lacks elite long speed (4.66) and short-area explosion (9-foot-6 broad jump). Hyde projects as a bellow NFL back, however, with deceptive lateral agility, light feet, and power to push piles. Though not nearly as "complete," you could argue Hyde has similar pure run talent to Eddie Lacy. The 49ers have a lot of depth at running back, but don't count out Hyde to eventually take over for Frank Gore.

Not gonna lie, I've not liked much of anything that the team has done. We had the ammo to go absolutely big in this draft but we sat back and played it safe. Took sit and wait type players.

I do like Hyde just think he was a waste for us. We have other needs.

NE is smart. Draft mallet for Brady injury concerns. Brady still good. Mallet contract is coming up. Trade him. Draft another heir qb.

I wasn't a huge fan of Garoppolo's future chances but he went from one of the easiest guys to root for in the draft and one of the smartest players in this draft to somebody I can no longer root for because of who he went to. :)
