Whether it's the media or even the old coaches poll, Nebraska has never been the "media darling". Shitty weather, In the middle of nowhere without a recruiting base, Said recruits we did get were usually not of the 5 star variety, Oh and did I mention the cold shitty winter weather?

And yet in the 90s especially we had a good run and still to this day no one gets it. They are happy now with seeing Nebraska where we're at because they don't want to see the same thing happen all over again. Well, lightening does strike twice and I believe it will happen for us again in my lifetime and these very same jackasses that didn't "get it" in the 90s assuming they are still alive will be bitching and moaning again about "Big Red"

I remember after our first NC in the 90s and the preseason polls had us at #3 (I beleive). That dislike and disrespect for all things Husker existed then and continues today.

Didn't Nebraska formally announce that Cotton would be coaching in the bowl game? Maybe word-play doesn't apply here, but would this have an underlying meaning that we wouldn't be hiring until the end of bowl season?..... Which would point more in the direction of hiring a current coach?

no..because you aren't going to hire a coach and expect him to coach it in 2 weeks. he needs to offseason to implement his philosphy <-- i probably spelled that wrong.

maybe he'd get his old DC from tOSU, Fickell is still there and is only a co-DC. I'm kinda surprised he hasn't found a low level HC job, even though he wasn't successful when he took over for Tressel, he was put in a really tough position.
