Did ESPN say that? I guess they and I have an SEC bias. So, if BYU goes undefeated should they expect to automatically be in too?

BYU would need there to be a few 2 loss conference champs IMO. It would have to play out like the 2007 season.

I ask about BYU because right now I'd say they have the best chance of going undefeated the rest of the CFB season, but their schedule sucks.

Is BYU beating Texas, Virginia, and potentially Cal a lesser win than P-5 or ND wins over the same teams?

Nebraska is still undefeated, so rankings shouldn't matter to them at this point, as they control their own destiny. Until they lose.

A win over MSU will drive up their undefeated chances big time.

I can't argue something I don't believe for too long so I'll stop. If Nebraska goes undefeated I'd say there is a 95% chance they're in. It would take something improbable happening. Like say FSU going undefeated, Bama dropping 1 game to say Auburn in a close matchup with Auburn also going undefeated and say either Okie or Oregon going undefeated. Highly unlikely.

If a one loss anyone gets in over an undefeated Nebraska, then the system is flawed.

Unless there's a re-match in the CCG.

When there are two similar teams, a rematch usually favors the team that lost the first time. They know how they got beat and adjust accordingly. The winner generally does the same thing that gave them success the first time. They've got nothing to adjust to.

I don't know about that. Take Alabama for example, we could possibly beat 4 top 25 teams and get our one loss playing our 5th top 25 ranked team. Nebraska could go undefeated and only have beat 2 ranked teams.

Which is more impressive?

If the PAC, Big 12, SEC, ACC, Notre Dame, and the Big 10 all have an undefeated team, then I think the Big 10 would be on the outside looking in.

The odds of there being 4 or more undefeated P-5 + ND is slim to none.

If you're P-5 + ND and want to be a sure thing to the Play-Off..... Don't Lose.

I don't give a shit if you are SEC, Nick Saban or Alabama. This is 2014 and if you can't win all your games, then fall behind those that do, into the pool of other one or two loss teams.

I never agree with penalizing an undefeated power team.

Exactly what I was saying.

You can't penalize a power team for winning all their games, I don't care what their schedule is.

Alabama had 1 loss when they played Notre Dame in the NCG, and clearly the undefeated team wasn't the best team. So shouldn't we look at the teams, their games and their level of competition over records in some, if not many, circumstances?

The only way an undefeated nebraska doesn't get in the play offs is if the ACC/SEC/Pac 10/Big 12 champion or ND goes undefeated too. There has to be 4 other undefeated teams.

How many of those 4 Top 25 teams that Bama's gonna beat have been propped up by Mother Station hype?

If Ole Miss ends up losing 3 games will you be claiming the #11 poll ranking they're receiving now?

To your point, the SEC is looking a bit weak to me. South Carolina was clearly overrated. A&M barely escaped Arkansas. On top of Missouri dropping one to IU and Georgia winning a dog fight with Tennessee.

Ole Miss and Miss St won't be anything significant either

For starters, this isn't 2012 and Alabama would still have gotten into the play-off anyway.

You're advocating leaving an undefeated P-5 + ND completely out of the play-offs for the sake of putting Alabama in based solely on them playing in the SEC.

Win or get the fuck out of the way.

You can scream conspiracy all you want, but these are the polls people look at to gauge where each team is at.

If I was on the committee I'd look at both the opponent's ranking at the time and their end of season ranking.

So beating 2 ranked teams is better than beating 4 ranked teams?

LOL! There is no way a 1 loss Alabama is going to get into the playoff over undefeated power 5 conference teams provided there are 4.

If that's the system we're using, I want Alabama to go play in the B1G or ACC.
