NBA mid-season tournament?

Meh, teams load manage on games that count all the time.

@DJ isn't the first to float that idea. Heck, I said I hope the Lakers sit Lebron and AD during the tournament (although I thought it was extra games at the time).

I wonder if that's why the league is doing it in November? It's early in the season and teams may be less likely to have started load managing or tanking.

I bet that is the reason they are doing it so early. Season starts last week of October this year i believe so the tourney starts within 7-10 days of the start of the season. Load managing within the first 3 weeks of the season would look crazy

Heard a decent idea on the radio today. Someone said they might have something here if they would tie it in to all star time. Call it all star week and play the semis and finals then.

i agree but players don't want to play a super competitive game and possibly 2 games during the break. AS break is meant to be a time to relax and recharge the batteries for the stretch run.

Let's be clear now that more has come out.

The NBA is doing this because there are people dumb enough to hype these regular games as if they are some kind of real tournament.
