This team is something else. 8 of their last 9 games won. I mean yeah mostly at home and mostly against right handed pitching, but still 8 of 9. One game below .500 and doing it with two of your top young hitters out and still missing 3 starting pitchers.

They are now 2.5 games back in the WC hunt with 4 teams ahead of them and 2 spots to fill. The worst team in the AL is only 5.5 games back as there is a lot of parity in the second tier of the league.

It's all good news, but a lot more work to do.

Funny that just a few years ago we said the same thing except on the road. At least I think they finally got the Safeco Field thing out of their heads. Or at least got professional hitters than won't let the stadium they play in negatively affect how they play.

Personally, I think we finally have an adult running the team in JeDi that knows how to build a team that's fit for Safeco. Only took......FOREVER , but we have a true GM at the helm. He's gone full Pete/Schneider on this roster and it's paying off.

I hate to say it, but if there was ever a night to have an off night with the bats it's tonight. Gallardo is to the rotation what Zunino has been to the lineup (until recently). Momentum killers!

I think Gallardo's next two starts probably come with the understanding that if he doesn't pitch well, he's going to be the odd-man out in the rotation when Felix comes back. He has to prove that 3 of his last 4 starts were flukes and not the beginning of a trend. Bergman, Gaviglio, and Miranda are all pitching well enough that it's going to make Servais' decision on who to replace when Kuma and Smyly are able to come back a difficult one. Right now, Gallardo is making the decision to replace him an easy one.

He's been sliding downhill since 2013. He racked up four straight 200+ strikeouts seasons earlier in his career. He's not going to see another one of those. Seven straight seasons of 30+ starts has probably taken a permanent toll on his arm. You are only as good as your DNA and his DNA is saying, 'After 200 starts, all bets are off'.
