Tough series on the road against the Dodgers... Team has their bats going the past two games vs the A's... 3-3 record right now... 2-1 series win is our goal...

First game: Paxton (3.00 era) vs McCarthy (7.20 era)
2nd game: Iwakuma (6.00 era) vs Baker (1st game this season, 5.47 era for '14)
3rd game: Walker (24.30 era) vs Anderson (4.50 era)

Paxton, I can see. Iwakuma, yeah, he can bounce back from his first game.

That ERA for Walker, though...Yep, 2-1 is a possibility.

I blame this near loss on you. Never, AND I MEAN NEVER, start a new series thread until the previous series is over!!!!!!!

Looks like three more starts in right field for Cruz this week with no DH available. It sounds like Lloyd is gonna let him have his share of time out there anyway. On the bright side, no Kershaw or Greinke in this series.

Yep... I think this is a huge series for A. Jackson... If he doesn't do much, F. Guitierrez could be finding himself back into a CF gig...

One thing Jackson has going for him is the lack of CF depth in the organization. Guti is beyond brittle, Jones is athletic and scary all rolled into one, and anyone else is too far down the ranks.

True... But Guti can give us 10 games or so, while sending a message to AJ...

um...what roster moves would you propose for this?

That is one problem with this years offense and that is we don't have that one guy we can send down to give a guy a break or send a message to like we had in the past.

yeah, just a weird proposition to me. any move regarding center field is going to be long-term, not short-term.

if you call up one our AAA guys, and leave Jackson on the roster, who do you send down?

if jackson keeps up the abysmal level of "production" he's done for the past 60 games, the m's should be looking to trade him, and try to acquire a better centerfielder for the rest of the year. even if there's nobody good available through trade, if jackson doesn't improve vastly, and quick, even one of our AAA guys won't be much of a downgrade.

let's just hope that jackson wakes up soon. it's a big dilemma for seattle if he remains a turd.

You beat me to it but that is the issue with not having a bench guy with options available. Or at least a guy you can send down I think Sucre is the only guy with options and he is our BU catcher so it wouldn't make sense...

This was one of my gripes with Weeks although he crushed a homer today, if he does more of that then it will be hard to argue with the sign.

Love the pitching lineup we are sending down for this series. Can't figure both kuma and walker to have bad days again. The interleague stuff does kind of throw a monkey wrench in things as AL teams aren't setup well for all the subs NL teams do with their pitchers in batting situations, but I like the way our guys are coming out of this small funk quickly and starting to get into sync.

walker still has fewer than 10 mlb starts. nothing is a given with him regarding performance. i think he's going to settle down, though, as you said.

same with kuma, i hope.

Well then what is the purpose for keeping Guti in Tacoma if they don't plan to ever use him?

I"m sure there is a plan B proposition in there somewhere...

not sure you understand how roster moves/options work in MLB.

the 10 games thing also threw me off.

i'm just confused. don't mind me.

Potential World Series match up

Looking forward to this series. Taijuan is due for a bounce back game. I like our pitching match up in every game.

Injury depth. Jackson gets hurt and you bring up Guti while having to sacrifice no one else on the roster.

You don't make a "send a message" move 9 games into the season with a team that is set to contend. Great way to alienate your players giving them all of a week to either be an All-Star or get sent to Tacoma.

It is half of last year + 9 games for Jackson. That is the problem. If it were just the 9 games, then no worries.

Again, don't have to worry about sending a message because we have no messengers to deliver it.

From what I have observed he at least looks a little more comfortable up there. It seems like he works deeper into counts and isn't an automatic K with two strikes like he was last year. Granted the bar is very low for how bad he was last year. He is LMCs guy so he will get every chance possible.
