#1. TAMU. Throw themselves parades for finishing 3rd then 4th in SEC West, beating only one even decent team in SEC play in two years.

I concur, even though you make loyalty sound like a bad thing. But I won't slam the tu fan base for the Mack Brown witch hunt like others have for fear of someone bringing up the whole RC/Fran/Sherman firings. Most of my fellow Aggies remained loyal during the lean years even though we weren't too happy. So when Sumlin came in and added some life into the program it gave many of us a reason to celebrate.

I remember a similar resurgence in the teasip fan base when the McWilliams/Mackovic era came to an end and Mack Brown saved the tu program after a decade of mediocrity.

I look at the vids from the games from the mid-90s... hardly anyone wore burnt orange and that is a unique iconic color in CFB... shameful.

This is more of a bandwagon list than a loyal list.

I will say fans of programs that have no

great traditions
Heisman winners
NCs
top recruiting classes
winning seasons

Are the most loyal fanbases. It is easy to root for teams with 10+ wins every season. It's easy to root for teams with great traditions. It's easy to root for teams that are the only major conference team in the state. etc.

I would put fanbases of Iowa State, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Cal, Wake Forest, etc above any of those teams on that list.

I'd agree with that. Alabama's listed as #2... wasn't Nick Saban ripping Crimson Tide fans this past year for leaving games early? I suppose it all comes down to how you define loyalty.

We had a large t-shirt fan base up until the Fran-plan. I can remember buying tickets at Kyle Field at a B12 Conf game at the ticket window 10 minutes before kickoff and having large selection of seating options. Not the Texas game, that one always sold out early. If our fan base is so loyal, where did all the t shirts go during the lean years?

aTm's t shirt fanbase is in full force right now, aggies can't throw that around anymore as an insult to UT.

Yep. What's sad is some of them were wearing orange t-shirts a few years ago. Some fans could be very fickle.

Really? Texas has led the nation in college football revenue for the last 7+ years in a row and that includes a 5-7 season. Any Longhorn fans that ditched the Burnt Orange for Maroon weren't even sports fans.

Yes. Really. All the racks that were full of orange clothing 5 years ago is now fully stacked with maroon. A lot of sheeple follow trends and right now its trending in A&M's favor.

That's because the burnt orange clothing sells faster, it harder to keep it stocked.:laugh3:

You can also name the list "places where there is little else to do but follow the local team"

well, that doesn't apply to Austin. But I see the point of your statement, not that I do or do not agree with it.

I agree with this. Basically, people are morons. The old Pied Piper story, around because it's true. People are stupid everywhere.
