So you prefer to see your pitcher bat with runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out in the 6th? Or do you prefer someone who is actually an hitter?

I would of course have my pitcher perform a sacrifice and advance the runners with a bunt, unless the pitcher is Greinke and then I let him hit away.

Not even close?

MLB: 162 games
NBA: 82
NHL: 82

162/2= 81

We clearly have a very different idea of what it is to be "close".

You said the seasons are half as long.

Not the amount of games played. Sorry that you can not properly articulate your train of thought.

As I provided the seasons are actually longer. They go further throughout the year.

Your notion that the baseball playoffs are long was also ridiculously misguided.

We clearly have a very different idea on how long each major sports season lasts. At least mine, is the correct one.

If the DH ever comes to the NL, I re-evaluate my love of the game.

I grew up in an era with no DH, use to be a lot pitchers who hit really well. I always liked that part of the game. It is what makes baseball the most "perfect" game.

Don't get me wrong, I like the addition of instant replay, umps have long been a part of what's "wrong" with the game. When it comes to balls-n-strikes, I like that fact that some umps call a tighter strike zone than others.

Yes, I prefer to watch the game the way it was designed to be played and the way it WAS played for 100 years until the AL bastardized it. :suds:

Well I prefer to watch someone who can actually hit knowing that they can possibly blast a 3 run HR

The seasons are about half as long.

I think anyone with half a brain would judge a sport's season in terms of games.

I do too and can list a dozen pitchers off the top of my head that can hit a HR in any at bat. If the AL likes it, fine. But if they bring it to the NL, I take some time off from the game.

the art of the game is lost on the AL.....when and if to pull your pitcher only adds to it.

Playing the game the way it was meant to be played adds so many layers of strategy. For some reason, that intimidated the AL and their fans. Hell, you or I could realistically manage AL games it's so scripted.

Baseball doesn't take as much toll on the body (unless you're a pitcher or catcher) as basketball or hockey which is why they play so many games but the seasons in length of time are similar.

We're not talking about the impact on the players though. We're talking about the impact on the fans and it's very different to follow a 162 game season as opposed to a 82 game season. That's why people routinely complain about the length of a 162 game season.

Agreed about the DH/P thing.

Make both leagues have a DH. Nobody wants to watch the goddamn pitcher bat anyways. We want to see him toss up zero's not kill his own teams rally's

I do.

No what you have made clear is that you really don't know what you're talking about in general.

You started with MLB having long playoffs, you were wrong.

You said mlb was twice and long, wrong again,

BASEBALL SEASON is end when the final team is left standing. And that happens in a shorter amount of time. You said the SEASON is longer. It isn't. Please for the love god stop being a dumbass.

You were wrong, now run along.

The MLBPA wouldn't allow it, and that's one powerful union, so it won't happen anyway.

7-inning games means fewer relief pitchers get jobs. Maybe more position players would get jobs, but the union will protect its current members first, so they will heavily resist 7-inning games.

As mentioned before, enforcing current speed-up rules would go a long way. Limiting the number of time-outs catchers can call to go to the mound would help, too.

And I'm also for getting rid of the DH. The pitcher is also a baseball player, and he needs to be responsible for the whole game. If pitchers all had to hit at every level, they wouldn't be as bad at it as they typically are. The ones who work at it are fairly competent.

Of course, it's more likely that the DH gets added to the National League than eliminated entirely, again because of the MLBPA protecting their defensively inept clients.

A baseball season is twice as long as a basketball or hockey season and baseball's playoffs are too long.

Seasons are measured in games.

How long would you like the baseball playoffs to be? A week? A month is short enough.
