Boston has too much money in old, aging hitters (Hanely, Pedroia, FAT@SS) to bring him in.

they need a 3B.

Shaw has fall down range at 3B, he should be at 1B next year.

We all know there awesome track record and getting quality 3rdbasman... Who would take over as FT DH when Papi leaves but you are correct EE would most likely cost a bundle

Hanley.

And they should've just kept Beltre after 2010. lol

But I 100% get why they didn't.

Sano - 58th
Quintana - 73rd

This years draft. Finally found it. BOTH were keepers though

But you kept Quintana, right?

I never saw him get drafted anywhere near that high. This was why most of us were telling you not to keep your marginal pitchers. You could have selected Quintana a bit later. It is moot now, but definitely something to keep in mind for next year.

I kept him because I got him in a trade when I took over the team and the "rule" is when you get a player in a trade you keep him.

Giolito, 21, has a 2.64 ERA and 62:29 K:BB through 61.1 innings for Double-A Harrisburg.
Spin:
Giolito's control has been better of late, as he sports an impressive 32:7 K:BB over his last four starts, a span of 27 innings. The 21-year-old likely won't pitch much more than 150 innings this season; his MLB premier is more likely to take place in 2017 as opposed to later this season.

Alex Reyes just started pitching in triple A after his weed suspension. Fire baller in the Cardinal system. Gonna be a good one.

Not sure he's worth a top eight keeper right now, but next year, you better get on that quick. If anyone gets injured this year (in the Cards rotation), he would be WELL worth a pick up.

Thanks for the heads up but I am (I believe) 11-13th on the waiver wire and that's the only way we can get players in this league

I wouldn't be able to get him this year anyway... Not enough roster slots left for me

Not a great keep anyway... Thing about rookie and young pitchers is that it takes them a while to get to 200 innings... Hell, Jose Fernandez still doesn't hit 200... You have to be a super stud to maximize those innings, I don't see Reyes to be that...

Honestly, I don't consider any rookie pitcher as a good keeper, especially in a league with only 8 keeps...

He is an elite talent and is the future ace for the Nationals... But he will likely not reach 200 innings until his 2019 season... and until he actually comes up, he has very little keeper value IMO... Pretty sure this is why your league was upset about the Quintana trade... Both players have much higher upside, but with only 8 keepers and minor leaguers count to the 8, your looking into 2018 before even looking into 2017 and we are still in 2016...

Now, if Giolito comes up any point this season, I would trade him right away.. and you would likely get much more than Quintana... So it was still a good trade, just because these players values skyrocket as soon as they hit the majors... But I would not want to have Giolito as a keeper in this league...

I disagree. Giolito is an elite prospect. Elite. You will not find any elites in the 8th round of any draft. Also, nothing in the 8th is any different than the 9th or 10th. So you can get "now value" in the draft.

I do agree about seeing Giolito's trade value if he comes up this year. Selling high is always a good idea.

Not questioning his prospect level... just his immediate production... He has done nothing yet, can we really consider him a good keeper... at this point...

True and that is where the whole "you traded for him" most likely have to keep him in this league hurts. BUT I can always trade him
