You don't need Reed to pan out to trade EE. Encarnacion is on the decline. The longer you wait, the less you get. Shop him today and stop worrying about short term results. The more you worry about today, the longer the rebuild will take.

As for Eaton, he is not a keep able player in a league that only keeps 8. The whole point of rebuilding is getting pieces today, who could be elite in a couple years. Players like Adam Eaton are guys you draft after you get your keeper core in place. He IS NOT a keeper. If you are considering keeping him, it is a sure sign that your roster is not good enough to make a title run.

Giolito would not be a keeper for a contender, but he is for you. Forget about the innings limits. You need at least 2 years to build anyway. By the time your team is ready, Giolito will be too. No way you get equal value in trade. He is exactly the type of player you need to roster and keep.

i do agree that eaton is a terrible keeper... And i guess if it had to come to Eaton or Giolito being my last 2 options, i would go upside with Giolito... But i wouldn't want to keep either...

right now he has 4 legitimate keepers in Degrom, EE, Frazier, Lindor, 5 if Gordon comes back and plays anywhere decent....

those 5 keepers are just as good as any other team IMO...

Then he has Duvall, Sano, and Giolito, Schwarber, Teheran and Reed... I don't get why you say he needs 2 years to rebuild...


Plus his closers are pretty decent too, one of them can be a legit keeper too...

Because his keeper core is terrible. I bet there are teams with 5 top 25 players and 8 top 50. It takes time to build a core like that.

Only. Definitely. Only trade Giolito with another player (Frazier) for a massive upgrade (Arenado). Or EE and Giolito for Kershaw/Madbum types. If nobody bites, fine. Your still good.

But back to Giolito... IF there is preseason trades, then I would definitely wait till then to trade him...

If there is none, I would hold on to him because your not gonna get much... The Sellers wont want him because he is not a NOW player, and it is hard to be a buyer trading with a buyer...
