Yes, it is just a coincidence that he keeps hiring parents and coaches of recruits. What is this the fifth one now?
Just like LSU just so happened to hire Ben Simmons godfather, and tons or schools just so happened to give athletes girlfriends jobs as equipment managers.

A delayed enrollment is not having an offer pulled. That kid was pretty stupid in the end because he would have been on the team that summer anyway and we ended up giving a walkon a scholarship. I think he ended up at UAB or something like that.

Telling the kid you don't want them at all, the way Harbaugh did, is pulling an offer.

Harbaugh responded to that this year and why it was pulled. Also -- Harbaugh didn't offer the player the scholarship. Brady Hoke did. Harbaugh asked the player to come to UM's lineman camp so they could take a look at him. He declined. Harbaugh asked him to come to the sattelite camp in Indianapolis so he could get a better look at him. The player declined.

After the Indy camp when he didn't show up -- they told him to look elsewhere. The player made it out that it was pulled right before signing day, but he was made aware well before that.

You may want to educate yourself of Ondre Pipkins. A former Michigan player who Harbaugh tried to force a medical hardship on who is currently a Texas Tech junior.

Ondre Pipkins played as a true freshman in every game and was a starter before his injury. He also had 3 concussions in his first two years.

So Pipkins had nothing to do with Harbaugh. He was a starter and the doctors wouldn't clear him.

Except for the fact that he did transfer and he is playing football for Texas Tech. She claimed that the only Michigan players that transferred were 5th years. I pointed to one who hadn't. I did not realize she was talking about this year only. Many Michigan fans claimed that Urban Meyers forced the doctors to not pass a recruit who later transferred to Auburn (and reinjured himself. If Urban could do that, so couldn't Harbaugh?

If Ondre Pipkins were a recruit, I'd understand the comparison.

I just filled in the facts with Pipkins. He wasn't run out of school because he couldn't play. It was the contrary. He played as a true freshmen and was a starter. The concussions were his biggest issue and that is why he wasn't cleared by the UM staff.

I guess that him being the lowest ranked player in the class had nothing to do with it, and if it had been a 5 star player it wouldn't have been pulled.

What does this have to do with Michigan fans? I'm willing to stipulate that Jim Harbaugh also uses all the "tools" at his disposal--as does every other major college football coach, @ellupo. I personally don't like such practices. Saban is not "holier than thou." Stop trying to pretend he is.

Because you guys bitched and complained for years until Michigan did the same things.

I'm not trying to pretend anything with Saban. I think they should be able to get cut for any reason they want.

He was a 4 star OL who ended up going to Oklahoma (I believe). He wasn't the lowest ranked player. So try again.

Erik Swenson was a 4 star OL ranked 227th overall. So while Harbaugh has definitely borrowed quite a few of Saban's shady tactics -- this was not one of them.

He didn't recruit the kid. He didn't offer the kid. He offered him multiple chances to come to camps to show the staff what he could do and he did not. So he got his scholarship pulled.

Funny that we are talking about UM and the first story on CBS today is a Louisiana HS banning Alabama from campus because of shady recruiting tactics.

Telling a kid he has an offer from Alabama, but then telling him committing isn't an option until we see if the other offers fall through. :pound:

While I understand your thoughts on players being cut for no reason -- unless the NCAA and the schools starting giving the playears a percentage of all the money being made. It should never happen.

You mentioned how an academic scholarship can be taken away if they don't meet the requirements, but the two are completely different situations. Students grades will drop because they will get caught up in skipping class, drinking and college life. Football players don't have options -- they are required to be at the football workouts, practices, study halls, away trips etc. Some players are at their peak of their potential and it just isn't good enough for college football. Schools are gambling they can make them grow as players.

It isn't the players asking the school for a scholarship (as it is for academic) -- it is the school coming after the athletes.

Nope it's totes legit cause he it's totally qualified and has nothing to his kid, en sech.

I agree. If anything Michael Johnson is overqualified to be coaching WR's in college. I have no issue at all with someone like that joining any program in college.
