There will be so many guys vying for so few Allstar spots out West.

As a big, 25ppg and 12 boards might not get you a spot if your team is not top 5.

Guys like Gobert, Deandre Jordan, Blake, Wiggins, Melo, Milsap have no chance unless voted in or they put up 27 plus.

That ain't happening.

KAt gonna have to be huge too.

Davis, Gasol, George, Green, Kawhi, Boogie, Durant....good grief and good luck beating any of them out.

Gasol is the only one vulnerable, unless Boogie melts down.

....Butler is considered a 2, right?

If not, even Fucking worse....lol

If Adams steps up this team is actually pretty scary

I mean Carmelo has played on olympic teams and all star star teams so I think he knows how to mesh.

I'm not disputing that. His "superstar" days are long gone though. Didn't ESPN rank him in the 60s? That's not even 'star' player.

I still have my doubts. I'll be watching with interest as I like all three guys but like I said earlier, both Melo and PG13 were both Alpha's. One of those guys is going to have to get used to being the 3rd option.

Carmelo should know it's him.

Impressed what they did. Think there's a chance the Melo signing might hurt them though.

I agree. Never been a Melo fan. And I always thought OKC was a possibility for Melo just because Presti makes a lot of big moves. The IF they mesh is a big IF. But IF they all accept their rolls they'll be a tough out. And fun to watch.

Lmfao @ Houston.

I wouldn't have taken Ryan Anderson either.

He has to know that.

Plus, after what he's been thru in NY, even if some of it was self inflicted, he wants a chance to win.

You don't think he and CP3 hear the whispers about their legacy?

You don't think they see it every time Shaq and Kenny rub it in Barkley's face?

Plus, he was willing to be a 2nd option years ago in NY. Why not #3?

Carmelo Anthony Is Fine With Being A 2nd Option During The 2016 Season - The Source

He's older, has lost a step and is clearly not one of the top 2 players on this Team.

But, he is a filthy 3rd, pick your poison, we need a Damn bucket option.

Like the Olympics, I think he will embrace it.

Terrible move. Carmelo is a cancer....promise this will not end well

Might not work, but there is no downside to it. They were not good enough to challenge GS before this deal. Probably still aren't, but they gave up very little here. OKC is the second best team in the league in terms of talent.

3 ball hogs. Interested to see the ball movement and cohesion. Could be an utter disaster.

Hell of an adjustment though. It could work. But I doubt we'll see all three in a OKC uniform this time next year.

Pretty long odds.
But so was seeing this year.

It's going to come down to Russ and Melo. As @tlance says, if Russ is willing to sacrifice some scoring, it could work. If not, it won't.

I'd say the same is true with Melo. If Melo will sacrifice some shots for a chance at a deep playoff run, this could work really well.

I don't think this will happen,

But their optimal lineup IMO would be to bring Melo off the bench. It would allow them to start big with Taj, allow Melo to anchor the second unit and be a finisher. He would still play starter minutes, just get his rest at different times than normal.

I wonder how many assists a game Westbrook could average now if that was his focus. Not saying it should be his sole focus but he has help now. He never really had anyone besides Durant that he could really count on to knock down a shot.

Honestly,

His assists will probably go down. He won't completely dominate the ball anymore and he was never elite in terms of passing skill anyway.
