By the end of his career he will be by far. But i can't put him ahead of Bird yet.

My first reaction was to disagree but it really is debatable now. He made his Rushmore case tonight.

I'm thinking of a million SF's that have played the game and I cant come up with a definite case against Lebron. There were players that were better then him at certain areas, but I cant think of anybody with that much versatility at both ends of the court.

Lebron might be the best SF, but I dont want to admit that yet.

Is this a GOAT list or more skilled? I think LBJ is the better player and I think his resume is also better after 10.5 years than Bird's 13 years.

Larry Bird vs LBJ
3 MVPs vs 4
3 rings vs 2
2 Finals MVPs vs 2
12 time Allstar vs 10 in 11 years most likely going to get a lot more
2x 50-40-90 club vs Never going to happen
3x All D 2nd team vs 5x All D 1st team
24/10/6/1.7/.8 vs 27.5/7/7/1.7/8
23.5 PER vs 27.7 PER
56.4 TS% vs 57.9
.203 ws/48 vs .242

LBJ will pass Bird's playoff point total in his 1st or 2nd playoff game this year needing 26.

Must have bothered you enough to quote but you had nothing with which to argue. You just exposed yourself as a butt hurt hater. :laugh3:

I disagree too, his rushmore case was made in his 1st 10.5 seasons, that game has little to do with that argument.

While I think it more appropriate at LeBron's level to let other people tout him, there is no question about his greatness. We love Larry around here, but he was never the ball handler or defensive player LeBron is and we probably don't want to talk about verticals and dunking.

Bird in his prime was one of the three most fundamentally sound to ever play the game. LeBron is not.

Lebron is exactly that. Great scorer, high percentage shooter, great rebounder, great passer, very good defensive player, handles and controls the offense. One thing is his FT shooting and it is getting better around 80 or so now. And makes it look so easy.

I like LeBron allot but he doesn't have the killer instinct that Jordan, Magic or Bird had. Hell, Kobe is twice the competitor LeBron is. And Bird, though blessed with height, played with a percentage of the physical ability that the other guys possess.

This anointing of LeBron is very reactionary. He's still well behind Kobe. Hell, I may even take the Mailman or The Big Fundamental ahead of LeBron if I'm building my team.

LOL

You act like he doesn't want to win. I assure you he does. He does it differently, in a manner that isn't sociopathic.

Duncan has more of an argument for being ahead of LBJ than Kobe does. Even so, you just picked the 2 best players since MJ to play the game who are both in their final years and LBJ still has 3-5 years of MVP level play in his career.

The only thing not fundamental about Lebron is his dunks. You have to explain that statement.

In my mind Lebron embodies Larry Bird and Magic but with way more athleticism minus the jumpshot. People forget this is a 6'8" 260lb guy going around smaller players like a guard. It takes way more basketball savvy to understand how to control your body going at that speed. The passing is also better than Birds. He does way more than Bird ever was responsible for on the court. If I had to pick between Bird and Lebron to take a last second jumper (and a jumper was the only option) it would be Bird. EVerything else I'm going with Lebron.

Of Bird's 13 seasons in the league, he lost the MVP race to 3 of arguably the top 5 players in league history, Magic, MJ and Kareem. Also lost to fellow 3 time MVP Moses Malone twice and once to Dr. J. Stiff competition.

LBJ? Lost to KG, D. Rose, Kobe, Dirk and Nash twice.
