Mariota trade talk...

Ive come up with my final "for now", Mariota trade up. Its a two-parter...

First things first though...the Bucs will select Mariota #1. But he will be an Eagle before the day is over.

1. Eagles trade QB Nick Foles to NYJ & he is re-united with Bowles. We throw in Brandon Boykin as well. Again, re-united with Bowles. They move down to 20. Fair trade given trade value chart.

2. Eagles select Winston at #6 & trade him to Bucs for Mariota. We also send them V.Curry & our 2016 #1 & 2. Everybody is happy.

So, not only do we have our entire 2015 draft to pick players...we also get Mariota. Another trade that I think may be coming is a Mychal Kendricks for Dion Jordan swap.

I think if Winston makes it past Tennessee (I think he will), he'll be there at 6.

I think your scenario is doomed from the start. With Winston already meeting the Bucs staff, and apparently exiting a very happy camper, it's a pretty sure bet that they already have him in the bag.

If Winston is indeed Tampa's guy they will take him at 1. They're not going to risk a team like Cleveland trading up to #2 and taking him be4 he ever makes it to 6.

Can someone explain the logic to me why any team, regardless of who's being talked about, would pick #1 and then trade later for someone picked later in the same draft? Why wouldn't you just pick who you wanted to start with?

being that the rams are very interested, what if we were to swap picks with the rams the them packaging Foles and then use the #10 pick to move up to 6 from NY and only give up this years 2nd for Marriota?

The standard values work out for that...IF you value Foles as a mid second rounder.

It is my biggest fear that Chip is so enamored with Mariota that he does something this stupid. Selling the farm here will set the franchise back at least 5 years.

Clearly there is some good crack being smoked in this forum.

Throw the value chart out, that's from a different time and a different era. it certainly didn't apply in either of those trades.

A few years ago it took three first to move from 6 to 2. Last year it took two ones to move up 4 slots.

There are at least 3/4 other teams who would also like to have mariotta. And people think he can be had for a 3rd year QB a first and a second and a player or two? If other teams are competing to get him the price will be more than double that. Multiple picks over several years.
