Sounds like with Lovie's hiring, Rod will be gone as the Bucs DC......does Jerrah offer him DC or does he let him walk without a push. Just got interesting in the offseason already.

There is a chance this happens, they were discussing this on 105.3 the fan a few days ago. I'm sure it's why the Bucs moved fast on hiring Smith.

I'd bet he's gone. The Bucs have some nice defensive pieces in McCoy, David and Barron who actually fit his scheme. And he will be coaching for Lovie. He gone....

I heard most likely scenario is Frazier going with Lovie. I'd give Marinelli the DC job here in a second, but not sure if he'd take it unless Monte left on his own.

I heard Jerry was trying to get Monte to retire, wonder how that's going. Also wasn't Monte on a one year deal anyways?

Adam Schefter tweeted about an hour ago that marinelli will be the Buccs DC.

Former cal coach, Jeff Tedford the OC

I figured that would happen as soon as I heard who the Bucs signed as head coach

Yeah, seems logical. Bucs a good fit and hire for Lovie. Seems like a good opportunity for Rod as well.

Rob isnt gone ...... jeez you guys will jump at anything
We havent even given Rod permission to interview

For defensive coordinator, Smith is looking at two options. His first choice is Rod Marinelli, the former Detroit Lions head coach who's currently under contract with the Cowboys as a defensive line coach. If Smith can't get permission from the Cowboys to speak to Marinelli, Rapoport said former Vikings coach Leslie Frazier likely would be brought on as defensive coordinator.

saw this online

ESPN NFC North blogger Pat Yasinskas is "hearing" the Bucs will hire Rod Marinelli as defensive coordinator.

Lovie Smith would be tabbing longtime pal Marinelli over Leslie Frazier, who could still be brought on in a position coach/"assistant head coach" role. The hangup with Marinelli was the fact that he coached Dallas' defensive line in 2013, and was still under contract with the Cowboys in 2014. Per NFL rules, position coaches must be formally released by their teams to accept anything below a head-coaching job. So Jerry Jones must've agreed to let Marinelli go.
