And with the loss, the Giants have clinched at worst the 2nd pick. The Phils could potentially take anywhere from 1 to 3. Same with the Tigers.

Actually, it looks like the Phils could pick as low as 5th...

And the Tigers are blatantly tanking. Andrew Romine is going to play all 9 positions in this game.

Yet the Tigers won 3-2. Obviously, they didn't try hard enough. Phils and Mets are tied after 10 full. Win or lose tonight, the Giants are in the driver's seat heading to the final day.

Phils down by 3 in the bottom of the 11th.

But the Giants M# is down to 1.

Giants 63-98 0 2 1 2
Tigers 64-97 1 1 2 1

Tigers won.
Giants lost.
Phillies lost. They are eliminated from the top pick.

Just yesterday, it was looking like a tall order for the Giants to “win” this thing. Now they are in the drivers seat.

Ya gotta be proud of these boys. They set their expectations and have been relentless in their pursuit of excellence. They are looking to the future and will hand the reigns to the FO tomorrow. "Here you go Evans, pick well!"

The Giants actually look pretty good for a win tomorrow. It is Cueto vs Perdomo.

The Tigers, though, also look pretty good for a win with Sanchez vs Colon.

This is the ONLY race left in baseball, and we are a part of it.

True October baseball!!

At this point, the chances that we get the top pick are so slim, I am hoping f9rr a Cain win a series well. But it might actually be more appropriate for him to get Cained.

My thoughts exactly. Cain was priority number 1 for me. Unfortunately, getting Cained against the Padres, seemingly the team he got Cained against the most, ended up happening one last time.

Was talking about this in the office today. I feel like it's been a long time since the most noteworthy storyline on game 162 is who is picking first in the 2018 draft.

Which is a shame because I feel like this regular season was awesome up until September, when it started to lose a lot of steam. They playoffs should be really fun though.

There's been previous seasons where the most noteworthy storyline on game 162 is who is picking first in the 2018 draft? :dhd:

Biff Tannen leaked the next 10 first overall picks a few years back on the last day of the year, but it quickly got swept under the rug.

Um, old man...

Biff Tannen’s almanac was published in 2015. It didn’t know who the top pick “was” in 2018.

How does the Tiebreaker work if for some reason we finish with the same record? We need to throw some rookie out there to pitch tomorrow. Everyone has a day off but AAA players.

It's based off worst regular season record in 2016, so the Tigers hold the tie breaker.

Which is really dumb imo
