Not only is Ross having a damn nice outing, Colby isn't.

Colby was probably due a bad one really. He's pitched awfully well for a month or so now.

Think you mentioned this earlier, didn't you? We can only hope you're wrong on the next two b/c this guy is administering a spanking on us tonight. At least so far.

Cashner is a good pitcher too, and so is Ian Kennedy. Ross definitely has the best stuff of the 3 though.

We got Gallardo going in this series. I feel good about beating Kennedy. Cashner is a toss up.

I hear ya.....You had every reason to be apprehensive about this series.

Don't mean to be pessimistic, but that's 3 tough arms to be facing in their park. And they can pitch lose, with no pressure to make it even worse.

Profar, Martin may get September call

The Rangers haven't ruled out the possibility of calling up both Jurickson Profar and Leonys Martin in September, even though they would be limited.

I lived in Houston for a year, and conducted business down there for 20 years.

Although Houston, for most of those years, was the bigger of the two cities, they seemed to have this "little brother complex about Dallas."

Dallas didn't give a crap about Houston. And it just made Houston crazy. Pretty comical really.

I just made my first vodka tonic.....I'm in for the bitter end.

Rest well.....bring some energy for tomorrow night. Appears we may need it.

Cashner has a 4.05 ERA and 1.38 WHIP, he hasn't been very good this year, though he's been better at home, of course

Kennedy 3.94 and 1.25

So arguably Kennedy has been better, but has the tougher draw in Hamels

Pitching wise I'd say we have the advantage in both of the next 2 games

Sure hope you're right. We can't afford to spit-the-bit in SD.

Tonight, and I'm taking nothing from the Padres, hasn't been our night. Hits didn't fall, balls carried, thrown balls hit the mound, etc.

Everyone take a shower, eat something light, and let's get em tomorrow guys.

This is spot-on. Houstonians just seethe with jealousy over Dallas. They hate that our sports teams, schools, and weather are all better and that we get all of the national spotlight while they get very little. They imagine this major rivalry with Dallas, yet people from the Metroplex just don't care one way or the other about them. My uncle was born there and still lives there and even admits everyone he knows there is that way.

Yep, this is definitely one of those write-off/"screw it" games. Just forget it ever happened and re-rack tomorrow.

I don't even get mad about these random bad nights. It's the winnable ones they choke away which really upset me.

He didn't fare too well in his last start against Toronto either.

You are right and I have a healthy respect for all 3. Of the two left in this series Kennedy is the one you have to watch out for. He usually makes it to no more than 6 innings but in his last 14 starts he has given up 4 runs once and 3 twice and 2 runs three times. That means the other eight are 1 run or less. He had some bad starts early in the year and that raised his ERA. He will be tough.
