Read something similar, then did a little looking for current info. From what I can tell from Football Reference, the teams with the most playoff appearances since the NFL-AFL merger.
1. Steelers - 28 berths - 6 Super Bowl Championships
2. Cowboys - 27 berths - 5 Super Bowl Championships 3. Vikings - 26 - 0 Super Bowl Championships
4. 49ers - 24 - 5 Super Bowl Championships
T-5. Patriots - 22- 4 Super Bowl Championships
T-5. Colts - 22 - 2 Super Bowl Championships
T-5. Broncos - 22 - 2 Super Bowl Championships
T-5. Dolphins - 22 - 2 Super Bowl Championships
It just seems wrong. The Vikings should be football royalty. This doesn't even include where they lost the Super Bowl the year before the merger. With the possible exception of the Cubs, they've got to be the most hard luck franchise of the 4 sports leagues at this point. How many nut punches does one franchise have to go through in the playoffs? This ending, as shitty as it was, was probably only the 4th or 5th worst NON Super Bowl playoff loss in Vikings history.
I feel bad for Walsh because he probably had the best game of any of the Vikings going into that kick. Those kicks were playing at least 10 yards longer than usual and he was kicking a flat ball. Fans will want to throw him under the bus but over all 60 minutes he was a + for them.
