he certainly COULD be a bust, but i'm not seeing that happening. imo there's too much potential in this kid for that to happen. just sayin'...

What would really be nice is if the Lakers could trade for another first round draft pick way up there and walk away with two of them besides that cash that they have for free agents.

In addition at this point I would trade Gasol for a first round and under the salary cap for this year and avoid the luxary repeater tax for a few years. Just saying

Job number one for the Lakers is to dump D'antoni. The guy is a terrible fit for the Lakers.

I think Jordan Farmar is playing too. Now all the PG's want to play all of a sudden.

Not every team gets a star and is still in the lottery with a million picks.

Right now he is your tank effort, let him see how many lottery balls he can get you guys this year then give him the ax.

No Not All - We Lakers fans are exploring the potential to build the team through the combination of getting some high quality first round draft picks in addition to buy two more elite players. We want instant success and don't want to wait the amount of time that the Miami Heat had to wait in between their first and second championship titles. We are not that patient

They are saving Farmar for Cleveland. Nash won't be playing a B2B right away. Heck, he might done again for awhile after playing tonight!

It's rarely one or the other. It's takes a combination which is what the Lakers will have to do. Build this summer using their 1st rounder. Buy (don't like that term for signing FAs) next summer using their cap space.

I like the idea of a nice free agent with the Lebron James potential and then a really good signing would set the Lakers up. Truthfully, I still think the Lakers gave Kobe way to much money. If Kobe really wanted a legitimate chance at a championship then he would have signed for half of that 24. 12 to 15 million would have given the Lakers many opportunities
:agree:

OKC fans patient like Confucius but hey, as long as they do it the "right way"...

There is a really strong chance he is not self aware enough to know that when he signed the contract he wasn't capable of being a 1a or 1b option anymore. Or he did give up like you said and will take his much deserved retirement bonus and ride off into the sunset.

What do you mean buy a team? If you are talking about buying players through free agency, then the last huge player we "bought" was Shaq in 96.

But since when signing free agents is not part of building teams?

Help me out, im lost.

Haha. This notion that the "right" way to build a team is through the draft, rather than free agency is the biggest bunch of BS to ever get so much traction.

Every owner in the league (well maybe not Gilbert) is trying their hardest to "BUY" a championship, whatever way they can. That's kind of the whole point. Pay some players that you think can help your team win.

The way I figure it, it's the haters that realizes their team such as the Sacramento Queens, or the Phoenix Suns; have never won a championship and never will that says such crap. After all, what other way can those losers excuse the managers of their teams:laugh3:

How long has Cleveland been building through the draft now? They've had something like 6 1st rounders the last 3 drafts and are still horrible. There is no "right" way to do it.

The Clippers was another team and they had something like 40 first round draft picks - :laugh3:
