The "greatest ever" talk will always be subjective but for me, I will always look at TE's as guys that can catch and block. I will never be a big fan of Gonzalez for that reason, despite the obvious greatness receiving. I think Gronk will likely be right there when all is said and done. He has been the best of this generation, I think.

I actually thinking blocking is mostly overrated in this conversation.

Antonio Gates has been the most prolific player against the Chiefs all time. Its all about the receiving because if you can catch then you're moving the player (or 2) on the defense without the need for contact. Its spacing.

When the Chiefs needed Tony G to block if/when something was wrong with the oline then the whole offense came to a screeching halt because there was no Tony G out there forcing 1-2 players to cover him.

Jimmy Graham isn't even in the conversation with Gronk.
He is a byproduct of the wide open passing game of the saints. Since he left, he is just a good TE playing on a normal offense.

Gronk could dominate a game which I think is whatever one saying he is best ever is trying to hang their hat on.
Best playing right now. I wouldnt have an argument for. Unfortunately when saying best ever. An Important ingredient in that is longevity. So as of right now there is no way I would consider him best ever.
Otherwise you would hear people making claims for Gale Sayers, Bo Jackson (insert other names here)
