Chris Long said it and I started thinking this might make an interesting poll.

Your problem isn't with Gronk, it's that he's a Patriot. If he played for the Falcons, you'd have entirely different opinion.

Gronk's not a brittle bitch, he's been cheap shotted for the past 5 years. He's so big we can't tackle him unless we take him out by the knees or head.

By the end of next year he'll own every record for a TE and won't have had to play 30 years to get them.

So big hits by much smaller players injure him, yet he's not a brittle bitch?

Pats don't seem to miss a beat without him. He's just an overpaid IR stint waiting to happen when it has been proven time and time again that the Pats just keep rolling without him.

Just because he is bigger than them does not mean they are small.

Your post = FAIL

Jackie Smith, Mike Ditka, John Mackey, Tony G, Shannon Sharpe, Dave Casper, Jason Witten, Ozzie Newsome (Did you guys know the Ravens GM also played at one time?) Kellen Winslow, Antonio Gates. Gronk is definitely in conversation. Time will tell.

Gotta go with no for now. Injuries have sort of derailed his career which was no surprise given his college injury issues (otherwise he would've easily been a mid 1st round pick). I remember when he got drafted I thought "That's too bad" - because he fell to the 2nd round.

That said, he may very well go kind of the Ken Griffey Jr. route. Ken Griffey Jr. is still one of the all time greats but he could've definitely been the best of all time if injuries didn't derail him. He missed around 350 hits all said and done (2 full seasons) and who knows (like Gronk) how many games he wasn't playing 100%. Griffey would've likely easily eclipsed 700 HRs and 3,000 hits, both of which Bonds/Ruth never did, and it was pretty obvious Griffey was not on steroids.

So as of now, I'll say no. I'd still put Gonzalez all time. And while Gronk may have had a bigger impact on the field (although I consider it MARGINAL to a player like Gonzalez), being on the field is far more important.

I'll vote 'maybe' for now. He needs to string together some non injury seasons, but I just don't see it happening. I could see an argument for 'yes' though given all the post season he's played, 5 more than Gonzalez not including the Super Bowls.
